The thing that is always bad about a situation like this is you have a bike that you look after and keep in new condition. Then you get someone totaling it for you but the insurance paid out is never enough to get your bike back like what you had before.

How my crash happened. It was not an accident it was a crash. On Black Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, I was riding north lnn I95 to the small town of Fellsmere to attend an MSTA lunch. Ilse was my pillion.

I was riding in the left hand lane next to the HOV lane at 60 mph. I noticed a car had pulled off to the left of the HOV lane. As I drew closer of the car began to move. It pulled into the HOV lane. I was overtaking it. Just as I was drawing up to it, The driver did a 90゚right hand turn directly in front of me. She was heading to the bottom to the bottom lane of the Interstate. I had no time to do anything except say oh no. I woke up with the medics working on me on the pavement.

Was there a turnoff where the driver who cut you off was heading? It’s hard to imagine they were so oblivious to traffic on the road. I hope they have to account and explain their actions.

Yes, there was an exit ramp so i was told.
So she was either totally distracted or someone who just doesn’t care or think when driving. Judging traffic around you is basic and obviously she failed miserably. I’m so glad you are recovering and hopefully no lasting trauma. Hope your pillion was not traumatized either. Also glad you’re able to tell us yourself about the incident. Certainly a timely reminder to us all that unpredictable things can happen extremely fast.

Great to hear things are going well for you and yours Carl . Agree that #95 can be tricky . We were on it a couple of years back through Miami . It was scary in the car , don’t think I saw a motorcycle on it close to downtown . It took us two days from PEI to get to the north end of the Blue Ridge years ago . Next time it 3 days on the back roads, a much better choice . Once your south of Bangor the 95 is no bargain .
Best wishes for a continued quick recovery and a Happy New Year .
Brooke

Thank you Brooke. I agree with you about i95. In my neck of the woods, the stretch from Jupiter to Melbourne is okay. From Palm Beach County south, it is horrible.

Happy New Year to you and yours.

Hello all. I thank you for the well wishes and prayers. I am now out of rehab and at my new home in Dania Beach. Dania Beach is a suburb of Ft Lauderdale. I am continuing rehab as an outpatient. I am healing and doing better everyday.

Unfortunately my Tiger is a total loss. So as i heal, i will be looking for another ride. The docs tell me I should be back to normal (as if I were ever normal) in about two months. I am up and walking unassisted. Having only one arm is slowing me down.

I will post later detailing the accident which was definitely not my fault. That stretch of I95 through Palm Beach County is definitely dangerous.

I'm glad to be alive and back to Triumph Talk. I owe a big thanks to Keys for being my messenger.
