I went back to the foot and ankle specialist this morning. They re-xrayed my foot and everything is healing fine. He told me that I should be riding in three more weeks at which time he will put me in a splint instead of the air cast. He did say that it will take about four to six months for all of the ligament damage to heal and that once in the splint I need to avoid twisting the ankle.

So, progress! I am healing.

Carl, the doc is right about the ligaments. I gave my hand a terrible wrenching when I crashed. I was lucky to have not ripped everything apart. As it was I had three knuckle fractures.
It's now over six months and I'm still doing daily therapy for the hand. It's still tender and I only have about 75% strength so far. But I'm much better than I was a couple of months ago. Slow but sure.
A couple of years ago I caught a couple of fingers (same hand) in a shopping cart (of all things) and gave the ligaments a severe wrenching. It was well over six months before the pain went away and I had a normal grip.
All in good time my friend :y115:

Thanks for the encouragement. I know from past strains and fractures that it takes time. I am grateful to have gotten out of it so lightly.

Hmm, I knew I did not like shopping. It is dangerous!!! :y114:

Take ya time Carl.....nice it's healing but that can change if ya go and mess it up somehow. Think about it.....ya do that and you aint riding for an even longer time mate.

Hop Safe

We are having an unusually warm weather. I am off work. I can ride because I have had vertigo for a week. WTF is going on lately!!!!!

I dislocated the thumb at the joint right where it connects to the wrist and it took a couple years to get to where it is now, which is still not back to normal and never will be. i suspect the ligaments were torn up good. It was the first 6 months that were bad tho. Couldn't even put my hand in my pocket.

I feel for you Daz. I did more or less the same thing to my right hand including three fractures.
I still soak in hot water every morning and do a series of exercises to get it moving. But it's only been seven months so there's a lot more ongoing work to do.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I suppose that will happen to me one of these days :y24:

In my day 21 was legal age and we couldn't wait to be 21. These days there is no hurry whatsoever for the next birthday :ya2:

I am enjoying my advancing years to the fullest.

I went bike to the doc Friday and he took x-rays of my foot. The crack in the ankle is about 80% filled in. He wants me in the aircast for two more weeks and he thinks I will be able to graduate to a splint then. At that point, he wants me to use the splint for a week before I ride two wheels in order to build the weakened tendons and muscles. So it looks like I will not be able to ride for three more weeks. However, I will stay off my bike and let this thing heal properly. I rode Mae Lyne's rig to the appointment; so he knows I am riding - and he is cool with it.
