Hello all,

Thank you so very much for the prayers, concerns, emails, phone calls, and well wishes. That means more than you can ever know unless you have been where I am. I know that the Rocky and Meatwagon know what I am talking about. It is a real boost to know that folks genuinely care. However, my injuries are nothing compared to Meatwagon's and Rocky's.

I will post more later. Just wanted let you all know that I will be riding again in three to four weeks.

sorry to hear you went down Carl, Dave sent me a e-mail, I haven't been around much lately, more on that later...anyway I'm so glad your not hurt anyworse then you are, the bike can always be fixed, sounds like you did OK handling it until the final moment..sometimes we need a wake up call like this to tell us all we are not immortal..Get well quick my friend.

Carl,
I am very happy to see you are alright. Prayers to you and Mae Lynn, and here's to a speedy recovery. Glad to hear you will be back on the road soon. Proves you can't keep a good man down!

Carl, Sorry you went down.
Thankfully, God had his angels watching out for you.
The bike parts are replaceable, you ain't.
Glad you're alright,
quick healing bro.

Carl,

First of all I feel like and idiot for not keeping in touch with you guys. You welcomed me into your home and I appreciated it very much. I still remember vividly trying not to hit one of your pine trees as I slid left and right on the way into your lovely hide-a-way. I appreciated the warmth you and May Lyne projected. That was over a year ago!

Hairline fractures are a pain in the butt when it comes to healing so please try to stay off your feet, get some good motorcycle books and let May Lyne help you. If you push yourself you will set back the healing process. Don’t be fooled because you feel good, follow the doctors advice to a tee.

Did you have an MRI yet? If the answer is no, then please talk to your doctor, some breaks can not be seen by normal x-rays. Some of my breaks were only detectable by an MRI. There were 3 (while the x-ray only showed 2).

Kissing the tar can be be very, very painful (ergo no Bonneville, :ya2:). I wish you a smooth physical recovery and I'll keep in touch.

You friend (who is very guilty at the moment),

Emiliano

Take care of yourself Carl. Stay in touch but get lots of rest and let the fracture and the aches and pains heal.
Funny isn't it that now I'm the one giving supporting advice to you :ya2:
Misery loves company I guess :ya2:
But seriously, I'm very happy that you weren't hurt worse. The bike can be fixed.
I don't know what it is about us motorcyclists - we think of the bike first. After my crash in Peru, and as I sat there in the ditch, all I could think of was, "Oh no, I crashed that man's motorcycle!" When the rest of the group showed up the first thing I said was to shut off the ignition and check for gas leaks.
The insurance I bought paid for 80% of the damage and the bike is back on the road.
There's an old saying that "it's not if you crashed, but when it will happen." I didn't really believe it, but I do now.
In my case I've a long cold winter to wait out and continue to improve, but you could ride every day and that's got to be a drag to not be able to.
Better days ahead.
BTW, I just came in from shoveling 8" of fresh snow

D@mn Carl, i'm just very glad you are ok ! You're one of the last people i expect this to happen to, but you were very lucky thank God. I haven't read the thread yet so i'm unsure of whats transpired since, but i will read it now. Someone was looking out for you !!!

My only real concern was for Carl...bikes are always replaceable.

Now knowing that you'll be OK Carl, I would imagine that your insurance company will be going after the guy in the SUV. His insurance should have to pay for all damages to you, the bike, and your riding gear.

Geez Carl, glad you're OK but hey, there are far safer ways to get our attention! Kidding! Just got back and catching up on the forum so apologies for the late get well wishes to you. Very, very glad you're one of the ATGAT riders and that the injuries are not as bad as they could have been but any injury and accident is horrible no matter how slight. I empathise with the broken levers - I've replaced a couple myself. But really, really glad you're OK and will up and riding in a few weeks.

Please don't do something this drastic to grab our attention again - I almost had heart failure when I saw the thread.

Get well soon!

Holey Smoke Carl. I got back to work today and the first email I saw was the one about you. What a way to start the year. Mend quick and well.
