Guys -- I apologize for not being around --

CarlS and I just spoke on the phone he is in the TRAUMA CENTER in Delray Beach FL.
Black Friday I-95 -- motorcycle accident.
From what I he said (and he sounds o.k. and in good spirits! ) Collar bone broken-- wrist broken and ribs on the left side all broken ... Didnt get to converse long but he is blessed and thankful to be alive.
Says the hospital is doing a great job.
HE cant text or write online (type) on his phone at present (wrist hand issues) but wanted everyone to know he is ALIVE AND KICKIN and that the DELRAY TRAUMA CENTER does a FINE JOB (though I told him I hope I NEVER need to use his recommendation!!)

I will be checking in with him and updating as we go -- gonna be a bit to recover from that but Ill say CARLS is a damn TOUGH ol Bird!

I’m very familiar with the SoFlo stretch of 95. With all the transient New Yorkers, road ragers, 1/2-blind functionally deaf blue hairs, jackasses glued to their phones, 24 hour bumper-to-bumper, et al, you’re definitely taking your life into your own hands down there. Delray is one of the worst towns for this. I must’ve crashed my Harley 5 or 6 times around that AO, mostly avoiding crotchety old crones acting like they couldn’t see me. My mechanic friggin’ loved me. I was paying his rent once a quarter at one point. Now’s right about the time all the snowbirds start clogging up the roads for the winter season too. They will cut you off in order to save 3 seconds getting their daily Loto tickets. Severe bike wrecks are a REGULAR feature in the local S.Florida news. Straight pipes are highly advisable. Personally, I avoid any Interstate highway at all costs, even where I’m at now.

Collar bone, wrist, ribs… Nothing an Old Soldier can’t handle. Hang in there bud. Control yourself around those nurses, eh?

Head on a swivel, people.

Well dammit! Not great news, but at least he's doing as well as can be expected and on the mend.
Godspeed in your recovery Carl.
Black Friday you say, Keys? As if there aren't enough distractions for today's driver's, lets just add to that the confusion and congestion on what sounds to be a bad stretch of blacktop.

I try to avoid the interstate and crowded highways as well. Perhaps when Carl has mended he can fill us in on what happened. “Old war” stories are better when they are first person. Heal well!
