It sure does look in great shape
The rear mastercylinder is stuffed. ...I will get it on the road sometime...
Ref GrandPaul's comment about rear m/cyl - he's not kidding. I had mine re-built around ten years ago and eventually saw sense and just threw it away a couple of months ago. I made some new brackets and utilised an FZ6 set-up I got off Ebay for thirteen quid.
I now have a working rear brake which I won't have to worry about any time soon. If you want pics/info on how I did it them PM me please. Nige W
I'd like to see photos of the rear brake conversion.
Looks a good project. Does engine and frame have "D" designation, as you have "E" seat, tank etc and indicators are incorrect. The above-disc caliper is right for a '79 "D", but became common to all models in '80 (I think). Essentially the "D" was a standard Bonnie with slightly wider swing-arm and rear wheel rim and the rear caliper, as mentioned. The biggest feature of the model is the Lester alloy wheels, which yours seems to lack! The US version had a 2 into 1 exhaust, with UK and general export being standard fare. Other than the paint, that was about it. My own "D" is number six off the production line (according to sources I have researched) but that is now of purely theoretical significance, as it is flat-tracked/retro'd/modified to such a degree for it not to matter... Whatever you have there - enjoy building and riding it. Nige W UK
Would be happy to see some shots of the Galaxy as well.
I had a 64 fairlane compact a million years ago![]()
