This is the OEM wheel from my '71 OIF Bonneville. It is in good shape, runs true, bearings turn freely, shoes seem fine, no damage to rim--i.e., bent flanges where the tire's beads mount.

The best deal I could find in eBay was $270 including shipping. More typical was $225 (OBO) + $75 shipping, $240 (OBO) + $70 shipping, up to $379 (OBO) + $50 shipping.

Fedex quotes me $97.96 as their lowest rate (I've already boxed it up - 30 lbs, 25x25x12").

So: I'm asking $135 plus shipping - sold "as is."

those are good brakes if you set them up correctly. you have to lube them, set up the shoe clearances, and after a lot of wear, they benefit from a rim true and a light skim on the drum. mine can bark the front tire if i take them seriously.

you can buy extra-long lever arms for more power, and i know a guy who has built a hydraulic conversion kit which he wont sell, but which makes them almost disc-like.

I'm sure you're right. But after I did all that work designing my own DIY 11.5 disc conversion (see below pic), I figured that I might as well run it. So, I need to sell the OEM conical TLS setup to help pay for that fancy new rim...

Yeah mine on my 71 Tiger are surprisingly good (if a bit snatchy). First time I rode it I nearly dropped it as I expected the pathetic action I was getting on a 71 BSA Thunderbolt, which looked pretty identical, but was about as useful as having no brake at all on the front. Curiouser and curiouser... I swapped the Beeza for something else...

Okay, last chance. $85 plus shipping takes it...

um, that is an extremely good price for that wheel. the conical brake forks it needs will fit both OIF and dry frame (with some easy modifications, iirc) so its a viable piece of work.

conical fork wheels use a narrower axle than disc brake, and are also not as wide. so the wheel is a bolt-in for 1971 and 1972 OIF forks, and can be adapted to earlier dry frames that need a longer steering stem by using conical sliders and T150 triple trees, as the earlier T150 used the conical but was never OIF. iirc.

keep the ad up here and eventually the right person will spot it.

i have what i need for all my stuff or i would have jumped on it before now.

Thanks for this - okay, I'll keep it posted in hopes someone can make use of it. I agree it's a really cool vintage piece.

I am bumping this ad to see if anyone wants this built wheel. Perfectly serviceable and with a brand new cable. I will let it go for $80 plus shipping, Fedex said $98, but of course that’s subject to their current rates.

Note: I also have an unused pair of longer, high performance brake actuation arms for the conical TLS front wheel.
