Hi everyone, I just want to introduce myself & hopefully I can add something of interest in the future!
I have recently bought a 1970 650 Tiger, which I believe is pretty original. It's a matching numbers bike.It has a refurbished engine, which runs really sweet.
The suspension has been refurbished as well. I will post some photo's soon, so those more knowledgeable than me can offer their thoughts.
This is my first Triumph, so I will be soaking up all the info I can. I have had mainly Ducati's in the past, but recently scored a 1949 Matchless g80s, which has sparked a bit of an interest
in classic British iron.
I've been a signwriter all my working life (34 years). In that time I have been lucky enough to be involved in painting, striping, lettering & customizing many & varied bikes.
So I may be able to offer some knowledge in this field.
Here's a pic of my Tiger. It's a US model. I think the grabrail is wrong? It has no crossover on the exhaust. No reflectors. The oil tank & sidecover had been repainted & I have since applied new transfers. Not sure if I'll 2K clear the whole tank/sidecover or just the transfers. It has points ignition. Everything works bar the tail light. I suspect a bad earth. It has an aftermarket brake light switch clamped to the swingarm, the original is still in situ (are these still available?). I've only had the bike a few weeks, so I'm pretty green. Any advice or insights will be much appreciated.
Looking forward to interacting & thanks for having me on board, Cheers. Mick Harrison

He certainly does good work. I can personally attest to that.

Hi Everyone.

My name's Rocky and I live in Melbourne Australia.

My first bike, 45 years ago, was a 1966 650 Thunderbird.
My second bike was a 1969 650 Trophy.

Since the seventies I've been riding rice burners (Japanese), but last week returned to my roots.

Picked up a barn find 1978 T140V Meriden 750 Bonneville.

Much in boxes, and a lot of cosmetics in need of attention.

On the positive side the gear box, bottom end, clutch, pistons & rings, valves and guides, have all been sorted by my mechanic.

.Might have taken on more than I can handle, but I'm a soft touch for early Bonnevilles.

Oh well, even if it ends up a static display, I love looking at them.
