Replacing the wiring harness on a fully assembled bike is a chore with so many bits and pieces in the way.
It's done on a bare frame at the factory so let's hope they get it right.
This is not a great way to start out with a new bike.

So far this week I've edited, updated to a format, and/or written 873 pages of technical/training manuals and I'm only just begun. :y20::y143::y144:My two helpers have completed between them 6 (six) pages. :banghead: And on top of that I'm training a new Control Board Operator.

Ain't that the truth. The worse part of the amount they have done is that they went to the same technical writing class I did to familiarize us with the "new" style/format they wanted us to use going forward.

We've probably got another 100 to 120 more to convert to the format and edit for new equipment installed while weeding out the old obsolete information. I've also been handed a list of an additional 25 new procedures that have to be written. I won't finish before I retire and they know it. There is even talk about hiring me as a contractor to come back and work on them after I retire.

Sounds like they're trying to get all your experience and expertise on paper/ data before you're gone. You being ill last year probably put a wrinkle in their plans.
The contractor deal sounds sweet.

I will be going to a class to get my OST ( Outage Safety Technician) certificate so I can be called out to work maintenance outages. I not sure if I want to keep writing tech manuals.

I, or other terminated employees have to be separated from the company for six months before they can be called back as a contractor. A retired employee can only work 6 months a year but the pay is just over twice what I'm making now plus per diem.

Working 6 months a year does sound better than working a whole year but right now I only work 162 days a year.

162 / 5 = 32 weeks which is longer than 26 weeks.
But if your on the slippery redundancy slope ,
There might be the work for you in 26 weeks.
Its only talk , not commitment.
Companies , like it or not do change there mind.
I always find it strange, after working for a state government , that a person can be made redundant , yet his job is then given to someone else in the company.
Not Logical , either you have a job or you don't.
Be careful what you wish for ,
Have a Back up Plan.
I have seen lives devastated by promises only later to find that they have been replaced , by someone outside of the circle. No one saw it coming and no boss who wants to save face , will admit he made a mistake.
It doesn't matter that it costs 10 times more or took 10 times longer.
The goal will be achieved.
But to go from a Duck to a Swan , first one has to fly.
Chickens cannot fly very far.☝

I'm a shift worker so I work 14 12 hour shifts a month on a 13 month, 52 week schedule. Or 364 day year for our schedule. 364/13=28. 28/2=14. 14*13=182. 364/2=182.

182 * 12 = 1820 + 362 = 2182 hrs / yr
or
2182 / 8 =~ 273 days normal working days. or 273/364 * 100% = 75 % of the all days per year.

Add 20% for degree of difficulty = 75 + 15 = 90 % equivalent per year.

Take another 5 or 10 % that brings it equivalent 100 % of the days per year.

If you are doing night shift , then congratulations your all SUPERMAN.

The stress levels on night shift , will be killing you.
Request you work 28 same shift days and take 28 days holidays as far away from work environment. On the Triumph with a Big caravan truck.
On the other hand as a contractor don't work nights.
And if your as good as you have mentioned the others are bad.
You can ask for triple or price per page.

Remember shift work wrecks your health , like bad Neighbours or Bad Neighborhood and Crap bosses.

Chris.
PS: there was a call for help in your statement.
