Thanks for all the help guys, I really apreciate it.

The fan does come on and seems to be working fine,

And today I picked up new brake pads, and had a guy at the trophy shop do a visual inspection on the bike, and he said aside from the things i've already fixed, it seems to be in good shape ( was a little worried about the rear tire and chain ) which is good to hear, because after talking with everyone at the shop, working on these bikes is not cheap, and some parts can be extremely hard to come by. so after I get the brakes fixed, replace the blinker on the other side of the bike ( to match my aftermarket one, too lazy to change it atm ) and check and change the fluids, just to wash the thing up real good and ride the hell out of it.

But with my blinkers, I wired them up as you should, and they worked fine, then the next day, they would come on, but not flash ( remained solid ) so after tinkering around a little, I put a 5v fuse in place of the 10v fuse and it worked okay. This morning to work, signals worked as they should, but when I took it out during lunch, all the flashers would remain solid again ( no loose wires that I know of )

From doing some google'ing, either the flasher relay is going bad, or my after market blinkers are throwing the system off somehow.

Aside from a relay going bad, I don't understand how it can simply work during one ride, then not work during the next. ( electronics is something i've never been good at )

Why not disconnect that one aftermarket blinker and see if they work ok?

Your new blinker isn't an LED is it?

I don't know how mixing them would affect things.

Also out of curiosity....what happens when you turn on the hazard flashers?

Electronic gremlins are a bear for sure.

Biggest key to Triumph repair is learning to remove/replace the tank:y2: Seems everything I ever need to do (short of oil changes and chain adjusting) revolves around that......can do mine in record time and with my eyes closed lol. You get the hang of it. ebay and bikebandit.com are great sources for parts. I usually use the very helpful exploded views on bike bandit to find the part and then source it on ebay, often times much cheaper.
Heres a "linky thingy" to an interesting article about 90's model Triumphs you may enjoy.

FYI if not mentioned to you before, ALWAYS start the bike in neutral WITH the clutch in. The starter "sprag" clutch is the achilles heel of the early Bloor Triumphs. ANd if it goes out, your removing and breaking the engine cases apart to fix a part thats around 38.00 !!!!! Not sure if it really makes a difference (maybe superstition) but those who have had to do the repair (me included) swear by it. :y15:
All in all, ride the snot outta the thing! THey like it that way.

Alright, so this blinker issue is very annoying. here is the story.

1. Pick up bike, right front blinker smashed, but other 3 still work.
2. Replace right blinker with universal blinker ( blub, non LED ) from cyclegear, connected the 2 wires, works fine.
3. Way to work, blinker works, way from work, blinker does not work ( lights up solid, no blinking )
4. Change the blinker fuse from a 15v to a 10, blinkers work
5. once again, go to work, blinkers run fine, home from work, blinkers are solid.

I tried several different fuse combos, when the emergency flashers are on, the lights are solid, just like regular blinkers are acting.
instead of the tick tick tick of a blinker, its just a solid buzz.

I'm starting to think its a flasher relay issue or something, and it appears its a standard size, and you can get some at just about any auto store. I just have no idea where its located, and what it looks like.

- disconnected the new blinker, same solid lights.
- disconnected both front blinkers, same solid lights

Well the relay is one of about 4-5 in a row under the nose fairing....not positive which one but pulling them one at a time should figure that out quickly. You could also try switching them while you're at it and see if it really is a relay.

yeah, if you guys know how relays work, its basically an electromagnet that connects a metal tab to signal the blinker on and off, It could very well be dirt and grime inside the relay that is keeping the tab from being released ( considering it just had been dropped )

Alright, more noob questions.

I've been tinkering with using regular and super/premium gas, and i've noticed when running premium, the engine seems to be slower to warm up, ( quite often have to use the choke and rev up a bit before its good to go ) and regular gas i've had no problems.

Seemed to get the blinker issue fixed.

Got the bike out on a 200 mile trip the other day, and I must say, the stock seat sucks.... corbin still offers a seat for about $400 shipped, i'm not quite sure if its worth the price though.

And i've not been able to find an aftermarket windscreen that is lower than the stock, everything I've found is taller than stock.

Also on the planning list is to wire in a cigaret lighter port on the inside of the compartment next to the speedo, for charging the cell phone, and would like to get a radar detector as well.

I know, but even still, the stock screen windblast is right in my face, with my visor up it pulls it back, which is verry annoying.

Hey Jixr, congrats on the bike. I recently picked-up a 2000 Trophy 1200 and was wondering how it would look naked. Got her stripped down the other day ... think I'll be be putting the body work back on pretty quick! Maybe w/ some imagination and handywork you could come-up w/ some kind of MadMax look? I am going to put mine back together and try to make time to log some miles on her new rubber. :y16:

Quick quesiton, I'm thinking of riding the bike down to the coast this weekend, its a 3 hour ride, which is fine, but the beach I like going to has no asphault parking, and is just really compact sand where the cars park. I've never ridden in sand before, and Was wondering how smart of an Idea would it be to take a 550lb bike, with 2 riders and a days worth of gear on compact sand, or would it just be better to find some paving and walk?

Obviously a car is displaced more across the sand, i'm just worried about the weight of the bike on 2 small points of road contact might just sink down in the sand. Obviously you would want to stay off the front brake and control the bike with the rear. Also, i'm guessing common sense would tell you to stick something under the kick stand so it does not sink in and dump the bike over?

( obviously I would only stay on the compacted well traveled areas of the beach and not the looser sand near the water )

If it helps, when walking on the sand, it does not squish under your feet, but still will leave tracks from your (car) tires.

exact picture of where i'm planning on going.

Each car tire is still exerting more than 550 lbs.

I think you' d be Ok as long as you make no sudden moves and go nice and steady. You could also let the passenger off at that point which may help.

Trophys definitely aren' t off road bikes so use caution...mine hates gravel roads!

Someone may have suggested this......but here it is again if so.
http://www.laminarlip.com/trophy.php

I tried 3 different windshields (at a lot of cost) before settling on the MRA Vario version on my Tiger which has a lot of buffeting....it helped.....but only slightly. THE largest improvement (believe it or not) was changing my helmet.
I had 2 different expensive KBC helmets (no dice--noise and buffeting where horrible) I tried a SPARX helmet----better-- but then I had the opportunity to try an AGV Stealth ST....now that is all I will wear.
THis is a stock photo, but you will notice how low and long the chin area is compared to other brands/models, seems more aerodynamic and to cut the wind WAAAY down over any other mod.

ALso I found the mirrors on the Tiger where of different heights----dunno why---- and after adjusting them to same height, I am riding in non buffeted comfort now. :y2:
