I have to admit I"m very interested in this bike and my dealer's going to let me know when it's available to see and ride.

That being said - I really wonder how a 1215 cc triple is going to go over with a crowd used to the 1600 BMW and the 1800 Goldwing. Triples are essentially different bikes and I'm wondering how the segment will react to that.

I wonder if Triumph will have one to see at Biketoberfest in Daytona?

The Trophy is a Sport-Tourer and not a strict Tourer. It's not meant to compete with the likes of a Goldwing. That said, it's probably going to be quicker than a Goldwing.

It's competition would be the Kawasaki Concourse, BMW 1150, etc.

I don't think so, AJ. Look at how it's equipped with full stereo, GPS, top box, triple 12V outlets, heated seats and grips, etc etc etc. The Sprint GT is really the competition for the sport touring segment - I think this is more like Triumph's Luxo-Tourer.

So its going to have all the gadgets of the luxo-tourer, but lighter (and I would assume faster) and quicker and better handling (not just in the twisties but in a parking lot as well)....for less money than the Honda or BMW????? I am no skilled bike tester, or the sharpest tool in the drawer, but this thing sounds like the perfect touring rig.

Those are all things that it's competition in the Sport-Touring market have. The Honda ST1300, the Kawasaki Concours, the Yamaha FJR1300, the Moto Guzzi Norge 1200, and the BMW K1300GT.

Those are all bikes not in the full-on Touring bike range like the Goldwing or 1600 BMW are.

Well, just got my new CYCLEWORLD and the verdict is in.....as with Motorcyclist Magazine....they LOVE the new Trophy.
I quote "A corner carving sport tourer with all the big-rig bells and whistles" and "Triumph has set the MSRP for the SE at $18,999. Yeah, thats a tall stack of cash. But when you asses all you get on a motorcycle that can do ALL the Trophy can do, 19 large seems like a bargain"

Boys looks like Triumph has ANOTHER winner of a ride on its hands........and Seeker, looks like you are in for a REAL TREAT! :y2:

Well you could GIVE me your current Trophy, unburdening you of current ownership and freeing you to purchase a new Trophy.........normally I wouldn't offer, but for the betterment of the unit as whole....... you understand.......:y15:

Seriously, hope you can work it out. Seems a great machine. TUP

You beat me to it :y2:
I received my copy of Cycleworld yesterday and was going to post the same conclusions.
The tester beat the SE around the roads of Scotland was very impressed with the bike.
