This pic was taken a few days ago when the dealer hosted the launch of the new Trophy & Street Triple.

She's a right little madam- wouldn't play with the other kids, wouldn't let anyone near her. :y5:

Anyway, she's back at the dealer today for the 1,000 km service along with the fitment of the Leo Vince pipe.

First service complete. The new pipe.

It's not much louder than the stock pipe but has a nice deep smooth sound. There's a bit of crackling & popping on the overrun, but again not very loud. Nice.

The bike in 32C sunshine :y2:

Not yet because I'm still at limited rpm, 7,000 max at the moment, up until I've done 1,600 km. The stock pipe is relatively free breathing I think and certainly makes more noise than a Japanese stock exhaust. The bike now has the same ECU map as they would install for the official Triumph aftermarket pipe, the street-legal Arrow. The reason I chose it is because I want a smart looking and good sounding aftermarket pipe on my number one bike. :y2: And it was about R 1,600 less than the Arrow. When avion fitted his Leo Vince slip-on (he posted a thread about it recently) he reckoned it saved 3kg over the bulbous standard can. I chose it more for looks and sound than for any small performance increase. Anyway, we'll see as I finish the running in (breaking in) process.

From what I've experienced so far, this bike is hardly lacking in performance and this is at our mile-high altitude. :y16:

I'm not sure quite how to say this: You want to turn full-lock at walking speed in a parking lot- it'll do it. Lane filtering- don't think, just do it. The bike's balance is just inherent and it requires negligible thought to do slow speed manoevres. It's got torque off-idle, a beautiful lightweight clutch & gearbox, superbly easy and stable steering at speed and extra poke when you neeed to accelerate, as when overtaking. And it's comfortable. So in all situations I've been in so far, riding the bike is absurdly easy- you end up riding the road and the traffic conditions and that, to me, is what it's all about- the mark of a really good bike.

The one thing I noticed when I road the first Tiger 1050 was the way it loved traffic. I did a test ride from Traditional Triumph at around 4:30pm during the week and you know how busy it gets around there. Traffic was just no problem at all and I felt at home on the bike from the time I pulled off at the shop, so I would sure love to give the new Tiger a go

I don't know how tall you are. I'm 1m75 (5' 9") and the 1050 was about as big a bike, physically, that I feel comfortable on. The 800 is much easier in traffic and at slow speed, not just because of the lighter weight but due to the lower c of g (on the 800 road version).

Stop p*ssing about and tell us, do you like it? :y24:

Well, it's really rather good. :y16:

When we stopped on our way home yesterday I said to avion that I was glad that we didn't have to do much more meerkatting (standing up on the footpegs) on the remainder of our ride. We do this over the speedhumps in the Cradle, copying the BMW GS riders. Unlike them, however, we sit down again afterwards....

I don't know what folks in other countries call this strange behaviour?

BTW, I filled up just before getting home yesterday and it did 310km/193mi on that tankful which included commuting & a brekkie run- can't be bad.
