Just before I got the bike I got this big idea that I was going to ride it across the Kalahari desert (Botswana) and Namib desert (Namibia) to the Namibian Atlantic coast (somewhere I've never been, but I'd dearly love to visit). 6,000 km, 17 days, > $ 2,000 when I started to calculated it (i.e. I started to do the math). Umm. Too long in distance & in time and way too expensive; so I canned the idea!
Made a descision; change of plans: In mid April I'll be driving in the cage South-East 600km/375mi to the North Natal coast (i.e. North of Durban) to go on a camping week in the KwaZulu-Natal Province (semi-tropical) late summer (not too hot & not too humid). Eight days on the endless beautiful beaches next to the hot Indian Ocean and a cost estimate of about $ 500 all in. A part of the world I haven't seen in 20 years, i.e. well before the digital camera

I'll be taking my T800 on the trailer so that I can do the local & day trips and it will be outside school holidays
. I will have to miss a weekend that RAT has just organised in ET/Mpumalanga/the-best-riding-roads-anyone-in-the-known-Uniniverse has ever seen.
So be it- I'm going on holiday to the coast. It will be special. I'll take loads of pics (there's nobody from KZ-N on tt so you don't know what it looks like)- er, er, a bit like Florida (climate & beaches) but with mountains- yes it's that special. All booked and deposit paid. I am the most frustrated oke on the planet when I have nothing to look forward to. I am incredibly patient and calm when I'm counting down the days. I took my beloved Tiger 1050 to the Cape coast twice (very special trips for me) and now I'm about to take my new T800 to the KZ-N Indian Ocean coast- can't be bad!
