Their blog has been updated and they're having a great time. The ship stopped at some small islands off the coast of Columbia and they had some R & R there with the other riders and passengers. They also had some R & R in the port city of Cartagenta.
No apparent problems with Columbian customs and the guys are proceeding south and enjoying the country and the hospitable people of Columbia.
They posted some pics on the web site if you're interested.

I caught up on their blog and their photos and vids. I spent a bit of time in Columbia though I did not get to do much sight seeing. I found the people warm and friendly. The jungle is beautiful.

You may be right! In the latest blog they commented on how nice Columbia and its people are.
Crossing borders in South America can be tedious, but they are civilized and there's no corruption like in Central America.
When we crossed from Chile into Peru we were screened in a modern government building staffed with uniformed officers (not military) and polite, well dressed civil servants.

Still no update on their blog, but the guys are making great progress. They're well into Ecuador and appear to be about a day or so away from the Peruvian border. The GPS track shows them on the coast of Ecuador and proceeding south. After the jungles and mountains of Columbia they will be getting into the more wide open spaces of the desert regions of Peru with the Andes Mountains very close by.
Unless they choose to ride in rough terrains, they will find the roads in South America very good. The Pan-Am section of the highway we rode on was glass smooth and like a roller coaster. Fantastic on a bike!!

The guys have finally found a decent internet connection and have updated their blog and added new pictures. They're having a great time it seems and are presently at a coastal town in Ecuador just short of the Peruvian border.

The guys are now well into Peru and have updated their blog with video and pictures.
They appear to be following the Pan-Am highway south.
The video is interesting in that it includes a Columbian police checkpoint that was fairly routine.
Their camera was rolling so they just let it roll and the police had no idea they were being filmed.

I have finally caught up on their blog. I think they set out to follow the Pan American Highway. I would very much like to do that. - but I could skip the Mexican through Central American part!

The guys have made it to Lima which is about half way through Peru and are obviously following the Pan-Am highway now and making good time.
This is a smooth high-speed highway with long straights, but also has many roller coaster sections where the road hugs the coast - which are a joy on a bike.
The terrain is dry and barren with the mountains just off one shoulder and the Pacific off the other. It's a beautiful ride.

There has been no update on their blog, but from Lima the guys headed inland across the desert and into the mountains. The Pam-Am highway is great, but the inland secondary roads through the mountains are in great condition and wonderful for bike riding. They have no winter down there so the roads don't take a beating from ice, snow and frost like we do up here.
They appear to be heading in the direction of the city of Cuzco, the heart of the Inca empire.
I spent several days there (two days in a cast :y8: ) and it's a beautiful city with amazing history.

Hi Forum:
I do not know who or how you can communicate with the kids, but I tell them, when they come to Buenos Aires, continue to the town of Azul (300 kms more) and go to "La Posta del Viajero en Moto " is a hostel a friend made it especially for riders who pass through there ... walls is completely written in most languages for travelers on motorcycles. It is an amazing place and compulsory for all motoclista that has been in Argentina.

Thanks for the post.
I'm not incommunication with the guys, just following their GPS track on the web site, but thanks anyway for the interesting pictures.
The track shows them close to Cuzco now.

Hola Carlos,

Hi Carlos,

It is great to see you back here. We have missed you. Thank you for the great photos.

My neighbor across the street is from Argentina and she lived Cuzco for a while. The next time she goes to Argentina on a holiday, I am planning to go with her. I will let you know when we make that trip. Perhaps we could meet. My neighbor is fluent in Spanish; so we will not have a language problem.

I wish you a Merry Christmas.
