Anyway they can get a $ out of you they will! What about you Canada guys concerning electric cars , due to them not using gasoline they don't have to pay any tax for the roads here, the tax is collected with the fuel as it is sold. I am sure that will change but it hasn't yet.

they tax the death out of fuel but i never see the roads getting any better ? .... the other thing ive noticed is that i thought it was just us getting all this :shit: , but it seems to be the same what ever continent your on we are all in the same boat !

Crying out loud! There are people posting about lights in their house on what is supposed to be a motorcycle forum. I recommend they join one of the many Handyman forums. End rant.

Yup that would be me that is posting about lights in my house, I also post about my cats when the mood takes me that way.

Oh and we do encourage our members to become just more than a number on our forum as long as they post up the content in the correct forum area. Normally on most forums you find an area called the lounge that is designated for just such content and I am sure I posted about my house lights in that very forum area. BBEER

Oh and you might also find one or two motorcycle threads on this forum as well if you do look around :D

TD, we have a few electric cars around, but due to our cold climate and open spaces they are not very practical here. Short range vehicles that don't do well in the cold won't be big sellers here. I do believe they get a good tax break but that won't be enough to make them sell. We also have a tax on the gas that's supposed to go back into building better roads and maintaining them, but our government just looks at that as another source of revenue. I believe a report issued years ago stated about 10-12% went back into building and maintaining roads. For what we pay in gas tax, we should be driving around on 4 lane highways everywhere.
Oh, and there should not be one toll road in this country. My rant!

I have never thought about the cold weather and electric cars that would be a conflict, we have the open spaces here too in places and have wondered about that also. The main thing i have wondered about here in the south is the hot, hot weather we have here 9 mo. out of the year, the AC has to be used all the time always on high, i can see just see the advertisers telling the women sitting in a hot car to turn their AC down to conserve the batt. power, that would go over like a turd in a punch bowl. A AC will use up alot of that power and at a red light it will have to stay running or that car will be left at home around here, i don't think even one of the new batteries will run a AC system enough to overcome the constant heat we have around here.

I think the Chevy Volt would be the only electric/gas hybrid that may stand a chance up here as it has a good sized engine to maintain the charge in the batteries. There may be some newer offerings(Toyota Prius, Nissan Leaf, etc), but I don't stay very current on these as they are not practical for me and many of my fellow Canadians just yet.

It's questionable how practical (and "green") they are in general. Even in California, they are mostly sold/leased for image and no one is paying the real cost, because they are heavily subsidized.

I live in a total electric home, the other day we had one of our last cold waves for the season blast through, i went over to my mother's house and found myself standing over the old floor furnace she has in her house and remembered how great gas heat is, can't beat fire, i have a feeling its the same way with gasoline vs. electricity.

I am saving money by using a 400cc Burgman at 65 mpg rather than the Trophy at 35 mpg and still doing the legal limit (ahem)everywhere.
Keeping the Trophy for towing the trailer so the Trophy is my van that I don't have and the Burg' the car that I don't have.

:y40: just when the weather seems to be warming up, the snow is all gone, spring flowers are coming up, and we had reasons to think about riding, we had a covering of snow last night FACE
I was watching the weather guy this morning and warm weather really isn't expected until May so get used to it FACE
It's that time of year we like to call "sprinter" - neither spring nor winter.
Another possible snow event is being forecasted for Sunday, but it might be mostly rain as it will become later today.

Our sprinter is rain and frost we are almost passed that now but we are getting rain, fog,and cool mornings now. Its now time for planting and flower blooming, will not be to long now and my rant will be hot humid weather.

I feel your pain, Rocky. We got about 5 cms of the white cr@p last night.
Not really going to warm up here either for another 2-3 weeks. Above freezing temps during day and at ot below freezing at night.
