@Paula I must agree with you on the insurance companies. If I look at what I pay for everything insured each month it makes me wonder just how much money they have made off me over the years. Also considering the times I have claimed against it I can count on one hand. The big problem is the day you don't have it is the day you lose everything in a fire or something.
Fair comment.
I started paying for car insurance with my first old car in 1958. Back in the 50's we didn't bother to insure motorcycles.
That was followed by a life insurance policy when I was 19 years-old. I'm glad I haven't had to use that one yet BGRIN
My first house insurance came in 1963 and is still the home I live in today. Add to that is all the insurance I have paid for cars, motorcycles and a cottage property.
I'm not going to try to calculate how much that has been in all those years, but it would be a small fortune FACE

This is my first ever claim...so not bad but still...proper pants! I'm now haggling with a breaker to take my bike for £400! Grrr:y20: hung is I don't even know what cat 4 is as far as I can see not much wrong with the bike I could fix by dropping a new front in...

What was your old bike? I know people over this way that buy their old wrecked car/bike from the insurance company and part it out themselves or fix it. Problem with that is getting the proper paper work to get it recertified for legal road use. They would have a 'salvage' title on the registration. That significantly lowers the resale value, but if you plan on keeping it, only you would know.

BMW f650gs but cat B deems it must never be on the road as a complete bike again ... I'm not even aloud to brake it myself or sell parts from it. Has to go to a registered brake. Sucks right?!

I just hate it when I have people coming to my front gate trying to sell me on their views of life
We get our share of religious types trying to sell me religion.
Whenever anyone rings my bell that I'm not expecting, I can see my front door and can ignore anyone I don't know.
The same for telemarketers. I just let the answering system take the call.
But you know what, they don't leave a message and I'm so disappointed ROTFL

Well I was sitting in my study and watched them at my front gate on my CCTV, when no one responded to them hanging around they filled up my post box with flyers that I see need to go and remove.

I don't have a CCTV, I just peek through the curtains ROTFL
Very often they leave a pamphlet of some sort that tells me I'm going to hell and damnation unless I repent.
Repent? And miss all this sin and debauchery! Not on your life BGRIN
Give me a %$#@..g break FACE
As we like to say in the vintage bike circles, "May your own machine be so perfect in every way that it gives you the right to criticize me or my machine and tell me the errors of my ways."
Local fast food places, restaurants, and others, employ people to shove advertising junk mail through my mail slot, but don't ring.
I just find it on the floor from where it goes into the recycling bin.

Each day we have deliveries of all sorts of pamphlets and most time they always just go straight in the bin without ever even seeing what they are. Them we also have them being handed out at most traffic light together with all the vendors selling stuff. You can do your monthly shopping at our traffic lights. :D

Well we also have the panhandles as well between all the vendors. At times you can count more than 20 at one intersection.

We have some that have worked an intersection for years and people still hand out cash to them. I give nothing to these people as the are nothing more than con artists.

That's the way I view those traffic light bandits.
For a long time we had those that rushed to clean your windshield, but they have faded away - thankfully. They were an annoyance.
You can find work if you want it.

A great way to keep panhandlers fro approaching you is to tie up a couple kids (goats) and put them in the back of your truck. You can even hold money out the window and the panhandlers will not come near you. They will even leave the intersection if you get stuck for a second light. Don't ask me how I know this. :y2:
