At some point in time we will likely downsize from our house and purchase a townhouse and I have just been keeping tabs on what is available in the city. Some really nice one comes up every few months so it does look like we might be able to find a nice place when we do this.

The biggest problem is that a lot of them just have the no pets policy and now I am starting to notice some that have a no cats policy but allow dogs. In a way I can understand about the cats as some cats can really become a problem for people that don't like them if they come into their homes. So the bottom line for us is we will have to have it in writing that our cats would be able to go with us when we do this move.

I could just not imagine having to get rid of my cats just to move into a new place or move in and only then find out the cats are a problem in that complex and we need to try and find a new home for them.

Cats do adapt very well to just indoor. We live in a townhouse as well. It’s a fee simple meaning each unit is totally the responsibility of the owner, so no other parties have a say in what we keep in it. Good luck with your search. Just make sure you also have a decent garage, for motorcycles!

I won’t live in any enclave or development that has any sort of no pet policy. It’s the hallmark of either a soulless community or one full of intolerant, spiteful a$$h0les.

I have rental properties and we allow cats no problem. Dogs up to 50 lbs are OK with a $500 deposit(on top of the security deposit) and large dogs are admitted on a case by case basis. We vet our tenants thoroughly and really only white collar applicants make the sniff, which would be the case anyway because they’re in prime downtown locations. They’ve always pretty much kept up the units, pets or no pets.

It’s wrong to deprive people of pets, full stop.

We got a new bed set a couple days ago to set up the master bedroom.

Spike finally did what cats do.

When I purchased an apartment before our current house I made sure the cats were written into the contract before I accepted it.

Over the years we have had a few cats that I could see being a nucence to others if they did run free.

There is one cat in our our area that used to come into our yard and fight with the cats that normally hang out here.

I just started chasing it by clapping my hands and it soon stopped coming into our yard.

The sad thing is you get people that will physically harm a cat like this.

Me neither. More than one MF’er over the years, to include a blood relative, felt my wrath when I caught them attacking animals. Most of them did not get back up for a few moments. I don’t like hurting people but there’s a fine line between disciplining an animal and abusing it.

And yet another vet run for Spikey. Final Distemper shot, for a year anyway. He gets a little panicky in the crate en route but nothing too crazy.

Looking beautiful!
I’m generally a non-violent person, but I probably wouldn’t react well if I saw an animal being abused.

So how many here have been a victem of this?

It has happend to us a few times over the years. The latest freeloader is Snowflake who moved in after her owner got a dog.

This last week she progressed from sleeping in her bed to our bed. So I feel she has now fully integrated into our home.

Just thinking about it now my first cat after I started working and lived in an apartment was a freeloader. She moved in and was pregnant at the time so it turned out being a family affair.

After she had her kittens I kept one so then started off my new cat life with two cats.

My girlfriend now my wife had never had cats and she was really scared of them. I would come home from work and find her frozen in a chair with the cat sleeping on her lap.

She soon became a crazy cat lady and would not be without them now.

Street cats will commonly pick YOU, not the other way around. Like I stated a few pages ago. I was out on the lawn watering a newly planted sapling when I look down to see this little black thing doing figure 8’s around my ankles. So I picked him up and said “hello there.” Friendliest little kitty you’d ever meet. So I bring him in for a meal, let him hang out on the table for a bit, and then it was “off you go.” Put him on the back stoop and as soon as I closed the door he starts in with his heart-breaking little cries to come back in. I was powerless, gut hooked. He played me like a friggin’ TUBA. The wife was staring me down as it to say “we can’t.” I just proclaimed “I can’t, I can’t do it.” So I marched out back and scooped him back up. The Mrs understood, but now I’m on a strict “no more animals” order.

Spike definitely picked ME, not the other way around. I like to think there was some sort of higher reason for this, other than he was a tiny defenseless kitten that had recently been cast out into the cruel world. More likely he just saw me as a potential provider. He hit the lottery when he netted me though, I can tell you that. So did Athena. She just showed up one night last year in the pelting rain as friendly as friendly can be.

They got it pretty damn good.
