Here is one of our three boys that we adopted from the shelter. They were in the cage together but were still kittens and we just could not leave one behind

The two outer ones died very young and a year apart.

The middle one Sky is still with us.

The emotional and psychological impact pets have on us can be staggering. I mentioned it in here before, but my first actual cat that I took on a few years ago died suddenly one peaceful morning just before Xmas. I was crippled with grief, dazed like I was living in a bad dream.

I had 2 dogs of my own as an adult before this current squad of pets we have. Long story short, I lost both during individual breakups with long-term GF’s. One made out OK, the other not so much. It took years for me to recover from both. They would in fact appear in my dreams and I’d wake up practically in tears. To this day I live knowing that I will answer for letting those two guys down when I face the almighty. When you take on an animal, you assume a protective oath… and God is watching.

One thing I’ve learned over the years is that anyone who doesn’t like animals is 100% not to be trusted or even respected. I’ve witnessed acquaintances, associates, etc too many times to think otherwise. It’s indicative of unsavory character. This goes for individuals as well as entire peoples, and there are large demographics out there who culturally, spiritually, or otherwise, have no respect for animals. To me, they are to be distained and held with suspicion and even contempt, at a minimum they’re to be avoided whenever possible.

Anyhoo, on a lighter note. I think Thena is prospecting for Hells Angels….

About two years back Snowflake showed up in our yard and we found she had moved in and was sleeping on our water tank.

We managed to find the owner a lady a few house down from us. Apparently when she got a dog Snowflake ran away.

We agreed that I would take her in as she seemed to view our yard as her new home already.

As we already have two cats I had to slowly introduce her into the house.

Well she is now fully integrated and a big part of the family. Like most cats they have their own personality and she is no different.

Something we always smile about when she wants food she will come find one of us. We then have to walk with her and she will jump up onto the counter by the food. You then have to stand with her while she eats.

Well it certainly seems to think it’s at home! Some cats just have a looser definition of what’s theirs. LoL.

The owner actually posted on a local lost pet site about a week back about the cat being missing, so I sent her this photo.

She came around to fetch him and you could see they really loved the cat. The problem here is he is the only cat in the home and he craves the company of other cats so he spend most of his day here playing with my cats.

That’s not unusual from what I’ve noticed. Cats are very social and love to play. “Your” shared cat seems to have made a conscious choice to visit friends! LoL. Obviously seems to get along with your furry house mates.

When he first started comming around he wss very young so the other cats seemed to just accept him.

Cats need a friend and having just one cat in the house can turnout as this did for the owner.

I mentioned about Snowflake making her new home with us when she ran away from her previous owner that got a dog. She was not a young cat at the time being around 7 years old. She has now been with us in June I think it will be two years.

The one thing that amazed me about her she learned the boundaries of our yard and now very seldom ventures outside this area. She will sit at our main gate on the yard side and watch the world as it passes by and feel safe as a house. So anyone that thinks cats are stupid animals they possibly have new been a slave to a cat before. I always find cats seem to have such an individual personality each having their own little things they will do differently from other cats.

Now we have two ginger cats that visit from houses around us daily and I always say to the wife I am so glad that Snowflake does not roam around like these other cats do and she sticks to what is now her new home.

This is a photo I took a few days back of two of our cats and the ginger cat visiting them.

So from left to right we have Sadie (female), Mr Baggins (male visitor) and Sky (male), Snowflake was sitting in another spot at the time..

So true of cats and have heard similar stories about cats relocating for various reasons. They are extremely individual. I never really knew cats until I met my in laws. All my misconceptions about cats have vanished. There was a time I thought cats were aloof and didn’t care for companionship. Like 180 degrees wrong. Over twenty years with cats in our household and nearly forty within the family they have shown me that cats are affectionate, love company and are extremely intelligent. If a cat leaves or wanders to another home, it needs something you’re not giving it. They choose who they are with, that to me is extremely intelligent.
