I have fitted newly refurbished forks to my 73 Tiger 750. They feel much stiffer and the bike seems to sit higher. I need to wait for a break in the weather before a road test.
They both had very little oil when stripped and were full of sludge at the bottoms. The conventional seals were also damp and probably responsible for the low oil level.
I have fitted new fork tops, phenolic seals, progressive springs, Norton gaiters and leakproof seals (circlip one side and interference fit other). I rebuilt them after a thorough clean internally and polish externally. I refilled with Castrol 10 weight fork oil (easily obtainable) and will see how that performs.
