Try this bike, not quite so obscure or as expensive, but still an interesting machine

Spanna - Yes that is it. Didn't they have cool names for the bikes in those days.
The engine is a very narrow angle (18 degree) V twin sidevalve, 400cc. They were quite adventurous with engine design in those days. Also it had monoshock suspension(not the first to do so), something reinvented by Yamaha many years later.
I don't think I have seen one in the flesh, but there was one recently for sale in Australia in need of restoration.

A nice bike, in fact you would never tell from that angle that it was a v twin.
Yes Britain did come out with some fantastic names for there bike models.
Thunderbolt, Thunderbird, Gold flash, Road rocket, Hurricane, Interceptor, just to name a few?

I love the names the British gave their motorcycles. They seemed to appeal to the hooligan in most of us BGRIN

Over here in North America about all we were exposed to were American motorcycles. H-D and Indian were the big names, but between the wars others sprang up with only moderate success, like Excelsior, Cleveland, Henderson and Ace.
Also during that period there was a trickle of British motorcycles into NA, but it wasn't until after WWII that the British invasion really began.
GI's were coming home with them or were wanting them when they got back. It was "export or die" so the British did their best to supply the NA demand.
Meanwhile, during that same period in England, there were dozens of companies springing up (and failing) and the larger manufacturers were experimenting and coming out with models such as the Silver Arrow we see here.
Models such as this were unknown over here so our knowledge of them is pretty limited - or none at all.
I'm learning a lot from this ID game - and quite enjoying it - although I'm not much good and making an ID BGRIN

I have tried not to put anything obscure or ancient this time. This shouldn't be difficult, however some may never heard of it, an interesting motorbike another maybe, what if?
More about it after its guessed!

I was late to the switch on the Tri., but back to what Rocky was saying we were not exposed to these bikes that have been posted lately, i haven't heard of alot of these and had no idea they existed this is very interested for me!
