Since we were hit with Hurricane Juan 20 years ago today, I have become very interested in the southern weather during hurricane season. I spotted the storm Carl mentioned and immediately thought of him.
I was also thinking of myself that it might come up the US eastern coast right into our lap. If things hold as the track shows, we may get away with it again.
Stay safe Carl TUP

Thank you, Rocky.

@CarlS, it’s looking like it’s going to heavily impact your area of Florida. Lear yourself plenty of time to evacuate. Going north there might be a lot of bridge damage from the previous storm. Where would you go if you decide you need to leave?

Probably to a local shelter. I.would have to now to.be able to get out of the path and past the existing damaged area. I'm right.on the southern edge of the tropical storm cone.

We keep seeing the pictures of the severe damage that Helene did, and it breaks your heart for all those people who were wiped out and lost everything.
And of course, those innocent people who didn't make it.

Linemen from this province and other parts of Canada are down there helping to get the power back on.
The US linemen do the same for us when we need them. It's a wonderful brotherhood TUP

The mutual aid pacts are very good things.

Would there be any point in going further south?
Further south is an option, but a limited one. South of me is Miami metro, Homestead, farmland and the Overseas Highway to the Keys. The problem with evacuating out of the area is getting back in after the storm passes. If I went north, I would have to come through the hardest hit area to come back home.

If i were in the direct path, I would evacuate north and west and return when I could. Where I am is on the very fringe of the cone. My mobile home can survive tropical storm force winds. It is well anchored and securely tied down meeting the latest codes. However, I don't want to ride out hurricane force winds in it. Ilse evacuated to local shelters a couple of times. One time she had some minor damage to the home.

Keep alert, my thoughts are with you. Stay safe.

My neighbor and I have rented a room at the LA Quinta about 2 miles away. If we need to evacuate, that is where I'll go. So far, they are saying winds gusting to 40 mph. I can handle that here in the mobile home. A lot of the roads are flooding. Fortunately i have my truck. I am closely monitoring the track. It looks like early Thursday when Milton arrives.

The blue circle is where i live.

Thank you very much, guys. The folks along our west coast from Tampa to Naples are going to have it rough from the storm surge and high winds. The whole Tampa Bay area is going to be hit really hard and the I-4 to include Orlando, Cape Canaveral, and all of the major theme parks are going to be hit hard based on the current projected path. I should be okay here. Just rain and winds gusting to 55 mph.
