After being pampered by the very compliant suspension of the Tiger 800 and pleasantly surprised by the 31 year old Marzocchi shock absorbers on the TSS, the Girling equipment on the T160 are plank like. Really jarring on my back and giving the kidneys a good rattle. The T160 is such a joy to ride, however after a 100 kms on rural roads I was battered. I took the plunge and fitted a pair of Ikon shocks which have 4 levels of combined compression and rebound damping and 3 spring preload adjustments. What a transformation. The bike now glides over the ruts, bumps and corrugations. The head shake and vague lines I was experiencing when transiting bumps in corners have gone and the bike is far more planted. Ikon are what used to be Koni shock absorbers. The part number is 17610-1282 SP10. The SP10 is the spring rating which is on the soft end of the spectrum suited for solo riding and my 70 kg ringing wet, booted and spurred weight. Suspension technology has certainly come a long way in 38 years. TUPTUP
