Well, no seat logo but thanks to this thread i got this idea....

Well, it's a rather cheezy way to do it, but it worked great because of my helmet color....flat white. If it were any other color or glossy it would require a different approach. Because it's flat bright white, paper blends almost invisibly. So all i had to do it cut it out and i used silicone to glue it so if i need to take it off to renew it or whatever, the silicone can be removed just by rolling my finger over it. If i were to want to do it more permanently i'd print on clear plastic if possible, preferably one thats got sticky back. I think you can get that, tho it's hard to find and i don't know if just any printer can print on it. Also, for my helmey that wouldn't look right because the plastic would be glossy and it wouldn't look right with the decal being glossy and the helmet flat unless i cut every letter out so there was no background. So it all depends on the helmet. For me this worked great, and i don't ride in wet so no worries about the paper, plus i suppose i could soak some sort of wet proofing into it. But i can renew it in 2 minutes if it gets mess up.

anyways, there are lots of ways you can think of to do it. But all will be harder than this thanks to the flat white stripe on mine.

I actually have thin clear plastic which is normal printer size and not glossy but semi-gloss with a sticky backing. It would work perfectly. You can buy a pack of it at any Staples.

But the only way to print on it is to use a laser printer....the ink doesn't dry well, isn't water resistant, and beads-up if you use an ink-jet printer.

yeah, i bet i know the brand....Avery, right? Someone just told me about that stuff. When you said the ink doesn't dry well and isn't water resistant, did you mean if used with a laser printer too, or only a problem with other type of printer? Mine is laser.

by the way, i wish i could find that stuff but glossy because i plan on getting another helmet that will be gloss black and plan to logo it too.

If you use a laser printer, you can print on this sticky-backed plastic without any problems at all. It's only ink-jet printers that have problems.

I'm not sure what company it was (I have it in a file folder now in my file cabinet) although Avery sounds familiar to me.

It seems to me that I had a choice of semi-gloss or glossy finish when I bought it. Take a look at Staples as I'm sure they have a decent selection.

PS: Do you mean you simply printed-out the graphic (after saving it) from that Triumph graphics page I provided?

Hmmm....i will have to check staples. if they have it in clear i will definitely grab some, as i have needed this many times over the years. if i get some i will likely put triumph logos on everything i own. :y2: I can see it now....I'm sorry honey, but i am NOT doing it with that decal on your.....":y24:

Yes, but first i printed a few of them at different sizes till i found a size that fit my helmet perfectly. Other than that all i did was cyr the logo out cutting closely around the lettering and smear the back with a thin layer of silicone. I mainly used silicone because it was all i had at the moment, but after using it i realized this was a good choice because if i need to remove it for replacement or whatever, the silicone will rub off easily.

By the way, i used firefox to print it. I tried resizing it in a graphics editor but it caused the graphic quality on the print to degrade horribly. Using firefox i went to page setup and used the scale percentage to resize it and the scaled prints came out as good as the full size.

Might be this stuff. (avery 5165) tho it says for laser AND inkjet, so maybe not. But it says "clear gloss".

Our 2 mil Crystal Clear Polyester label sheets are both inkjet and laser compatible! A unique top-coating ensures superior print quality whether you are printing in color or using just black. This product is a great choice if you are trying to achieve the 'no label look'. The sheets come with a general purpose permanent adhesive that will work well for a variety of applications.

I'm sure they probably SAY that it can be used with an ink-jet printer, which it CAN, but ink-jet ink will "run" when it gets wet and will take forever to dry initially. It may also smear when you're applying the sticker.

I wouldn't worry about that since you have a laser printer anyhow.

The ONLY thing I would advise you to do is to be sure it cools before you try to apply it. I've found that if you bend the plastic too much when applying it while it's still warm, it flakes off.

I did noticed they had the semi gloss and clear like you said, and the clear is the one that said ink or laser, while the semi said laser only. So not that it matters since like you say i have a laser. But i thought i'd point that out, as maybe someone with ink may wanna try this. I may have to order a box of it because it seems staples, at least the ones around here don't carry it and sell it by the page. So i my have to buy 24 which i suppose i will eventually be able to use for other things. But i WOULD prefer by the sheet so i could try it first. I'll check some other places too. I recall trying office depot along with several others a few years back with no luck tho.

Carl, give it a shot. It's fun and looks great. Maybe try this stuff we're discussing. then post shots so we can see how it comes out. You have that shiny new 800, i think it's appropriate you fly your triumph colors proudly now more than ever. :y2:

When you say sticker sheets can you elaborate? is it like sheets of the same decal, do they have them in different sizes, and do they have all the common fonts triumph has used?

They are like printer-size sheets with numerous stickers on them.....different sized Triumph logos in white, black, and blue as well as waving Union Jacks. There are several different sheets with differing things on them that can be bought at your local Triumph dealer's parts counter.

I think they are about $11.00 - $15.00 per sheet.

I'll have to remember to ask next time i'm at my dealer. I would however prefer a sheet of clear sticky back printer stock tho because that way i can print the exact size and graphic i want. You can take endless graphics found online and photoshop em to your liking. Plus it's kinda fun doing it yourself. But if i can't find that stuff w/o having to buy a huge box i will look to the dealer.
