OIF Question

Well, I still don't know for sure if these are the stock shocks since I can't find anything to ID them positively.

I'm a bit more concerned right now with the lack of electrical power when I'm using the headlights at night.

I'm not sure what the exact technical reason was, but the Koni shocks definitely will not work correctly upside-down.
 
New question:

When I unscrew the oil dip stick and withdraw it to check the oil, inside the OIF I can see what looks similar to a phillips head screwdriver end sticking up. I assume this is some type of adjuster or something. Anyone know what that is for?
 
I think that will adjust the flow of oil to your heads

BTW Your Back Shocks

Gas filled after frame BX05107 PL No 70056007 to be fitted with the adjuster at the top. (To us upside down)

Oil Hydrophilic Suspension unit prior to frame BX05107 PL No 64052556 to be fitted with adjusted at the bottom.(The way you have then now)

Note - If the units are mounted the incorrect way up irreparable damage to the dampening mechanism within the unit will occur :silent:
 
I need to get an actual Owners Manual for this bike so I know what some of this stuff is!!

Thanks for the info on the shocks.....I guess I'll be flipping them over again.

I thought I'd check if there was any oil in the front forks last night and took out the drain plug at the bottom of them to find none at all. So, I guess I'll also now be adding 190cc of oil to each. The problem here is that it's tough to find anything to measure-out 190cc. Looks like I'll be checking the conversion tables to see what that equals under our system.

The conversion is: 190 cubic centimeter = 11.594 511 378 cubic inch - 190 cubic centimeter = 0.401 541 519 58 pint [US, liquid] - 190 cubic centimeter = 0.200 770 759 79 quart [US, liquid], I do not know what measure. You fixed the electrical problem?.

The thing that looks like a screw driver is you oil return line, not an adjustment.

An old guy once told me they used to cover the return line when their engines were cold as it will divert more oil to the valve train. Don't know if it actually does any good, but that's what I was told.

That sure seems like a tiny amount of oil!!! Thanks for the conversion though.

So far, I haven't found any problem with the electrics.....everything checks out OK.

You ask, You have!. Ja, Ja! :y24: :y24:. Then I'm downloading the manual for Triumph 750 '73 - '78, I hope you serve. The electric can be something that comes into being short walk or bike when you turn on the lights, look around. I downloaded in workshop manuals, where the other manual.

190cc = 6.424664 US ounces

Ounces are much easier to work with. Still, 6 and a half ounces sure seems like a small amount of oil. I think my Trophy took quite a bit more when i rebuilt and upgraded the forks.

If I understand the manual correctly, I should use automatic transmission fluid type F.
