I'd say it's a Suzuki GT550 with the Difazio conversion.

Jack Difazeo built about 50 of them in the 70's.

Well done with that photo choice. I didn't know it from the photo but noticed the key points like, hub centre steering and Suzuki two stroke engine. Then the brakes gave it away as a 70's bike. You said UK produced, so a 5 minute search found it.
I'm not claiming it as I had to search for it and have already had a go. Some one else put your hand up if Dave approves.

Well spotted Kevin. I knew someone who had one of these, but it didn't have that pig-ugly fairing on it.

That was a great entry, nice and obscure.
I was honest and admitted that I wasn't familiar with them.
Not a lot of bikes with hub centre steering and ram-air cooling so Mr Google whispered into my ear.
My first thought was that it must have been some kind of side car special.

The one in the background is your mate on a around a 72 Bonnie. The one you are on is around a 68 ? looking at the push rods on the side BGRIN

Sent from my fruit using Tapatalk

The one on the right is a Bonnie, (tick) newer than your suggested 72, look at the front brake plate.
The one on the left with Otherwise, (tick) has rigid back end and girder forks, "approximately" 30 years older than your guess.

So we have on left the rider - Otherwise.
On the right,
Triumph - Bonneville - year?
On the left,
make? - model? - year?

That's the way chip away at it.

Lol well at least I took a dip this time but I will have to look at the photo on a real PC to get a better take on it. Gee I thought Silli would have had this one by now or even Rocky BGRIN

the bonnie is 67-69

Correct the Bonnie is a 69.

On the right,
Triumph - Bonneville - 1969 (UK specks)
On the left,
make? - model? - year?

Apologies regarding my last comment to Dave, it was late at night and when he said 72, I said newer.
No interest in the 30's bike on the left? I'll give it a bit longer then help out with a big hint or two.

Those late 650 Triumphs can be quickly ID'd by the front brake plate. The first twin leading shoe was 68 but the cable pulled horizontally to the rear. The 69 and 70 had upward pull cable. Then in 71 they got the conical hub.
