I see.......well sit....stand feel....reach to the bars.....sit on the bike for 5 minutes in the riding position----still---- which FEELS more comfortable.
Ignore the salesman ......they will try and annoy you while doing this.... ;)
TBTH for a first bike Scrambler --- hands down. Pure basic bullet proof motorcycling at its core ;)

I stopped by the Triumph dealer after work, and talked to the same salesman I talked to last week. I sat on all 3 that I was interested in. I quickly, and somewhat sadly, ruled out the Street Twin for being too low. I'm a bit over 6-foot and evenly divided between legs and torso, with a touch of arthritis in my right knee. The Street Twin just wasn't going to work for the long term. The Scrambler and the 800XC (seat in the lowest position) were both great. I am going to have to do some muscle stretching to mount bikes like the 800XC easier. Now it's just put ducks and ducats in order, so that when one of these shows up on the used market I can jump on it.
WOW

COOL.......I had the same issue with my Speed Triple LOVED it the bike was pure sex in can and SPEEEEEEEEEEEEEED junky dream
BUt an hour ride had me crippled for 2 days.

I think you will find.....the triple cylinders motor .....even though the STRETCH to mount the beast is difficult.....will prove the best easiest most linear and versatile power plant.................(No Shane I am not prejudice!!!!!!)

I am 6' 32" inseam and I drag my foot across the saddle bag or seat occasionally when mounting the Tiger....but once I am ON ...its all good ;)

Keep testing........keep learning......and congrats on taking these steps to becoming a Triumph NUT like the rest of us ;)

Even sitting still can be dangerous, IMO.

How right you are.

I learned yesterday one of my nephews has an '02 Bonneville America. I knew he had a bike, but wasn't aware it was a Triumph. He's in WI, I'm in CA; a little hard to go ride with him.

On another note, I like redheads who can sing. Triumph has a t-shirt with a print of Ann-Margaret on a Triumph, from the film "The Swingers."

Ann-Margaret might be a good name for a red bike.

Passed the written test for the motorcycle license today. Now I need to get the riding class scheduled.

By the by, the local Honda dealer has a 2012 Triumph Bonneville SE, in Diablo Orange, and a 2014 Triumph Scrambler, in silver/red, in the showroom right now. The Bonnie is lovely, but I want the Scrambler. Two weeks from now would be a much better time for me, if it's still there.

Here is the Scrambler:
