My grandmother lost her first child at age 2. When Nana was on her death bed at age 83 she held my hand and said, "now I get to see my sweet Marie", it is a loss that is never forgotten.

That is the truth!

Heartfelt condolences from me and my family. Having lost a daughter before her 2nd birthday, we can sympathize. Certainly doesn't seem fair...

Thank you all once again for your amazing outpouring of support, care, love and prayers and the very special stories of personal loss you have shared on this thread. Mike & Chan have gone away for a week for some private time with their other daughter, Rachel, and to grieve in the peace and solitude of the beautiful African bush.
The funeral was on Friday and it sweet and gentle - the Minister and his wife gave a beautiful sermon. I've never seen a Minister sob during a sermon but this one did - as he said, Donnae touched many of us very deeply. The entire medical staff were also there and the oncology Prof who was treating Donnae flew from Cape Town to be with Mike & Chan. Prof Poole said she's treated many, many patients but Donnae will live with her forever.

THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN TO EVERYONE HERE
God Bless you All
M

Lon, I did not know that. I am so sorry for that terrible loss. No, life is not fair.
