Re: Please Say A Little Prayer

Thanks again guys - the support means the world. If anyone is on FaceBook, you can check out her page under "Donnae Zorich". Just look at the photos - this little girl just has the biggest smile you can imagine; even without any hair!! Love her Barbie wigs too!

Life sure is not Fair at times

From the Facebook page for those that don't have it

Donnae has Stage 4 cancer. 15 % in the hip bone marrow and a tumour above the right Kidney. She is 3 years old.

You can help by praying for Donnae and her family, donating to the Donnae Zorich Angel fund or both.

UPDATE - 20 AUGUST 2009
FIVE MONTHS HAVE PASSED SINCE DONNAE WAS DIAGNOSED AND SHE IS MAKING SLOW BUT STEADY PROGRESS. HER BONE MARROW HAS BEEN CLEARED OF CANCER AND THE TUMOR IS SHRINKING SLOWLY.HER STEM CELL HARVEST WAS A HUGE SUCCESS AND SHE WILL BE UNDERGOING SURGERY IN SIX WEEKS TO REMOVE THE TUMOR, AFTERWHICH A HIGH DOSE BLOCK OF CHEMO WILL BE GIVEN. DONNAE WILL THEN BE 'SAVED' WITH HER OWN STEM CELLS, CALLED A BONE MARROW RESCUE. AT THIS STAGE A TRANSPLANT IS NOT NECESSARY BUT WILL NOT BE RULED OUT IN THE FUTURE. WE THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR GENEROSITY IN HELPING TO HELP US WITH DONNAE'S MOUNTING MEDICAL EXPENSES - WE WILL BE FOREVER GRATEFUL. WE HAVE LEARNT TO DEAL WITH THIS ILLNESS DAY BY DAY AND WE THANK GOD FOR THE MIRACLES - BIG OR SMALL - WHICH HAVE COME OUR WAY.
LOVE MICHAEL, CHANEL, RACHEL AND DONNAE.

I only just read this post as I don't have much time for the puter lately. So sorry to hear about Donnay but also pleased to hear she is doing OK.

Prayers have been said from Downunder.

Lee.

MICHAEL, CHANEL, RACHEL AND DONNAE - count on my prayers for the successful recovery for Donnae, never give up hope

THANK YOU ALL! I'm printing out this thread for Chanel & Michael - I know how much it will mean to them to know that the support for Donnae has bridged oceans and continents.

Dave - thanks for posting the link to her FB page. I'm going to go now because I'm getting all choked up with the fantastic warmth and support here.

THANK YOU ALL ONCE AGAIN.

You're so right 'friend'. The one thing about this forum is that we all have different opinions and beliefs but when just one needs support, this entire group put differences aside and jump in! A very special group of friends indeed!

Hi Dave, unfortunately the page had to be 'closed' and for friends only because somebody decided to use Donnae as a Cause Celebre and started 'fund raising' in her name without permission.

The update is: Donnae's having surgery in 2 weeks time to remove the tumour in her lower back, next to the spine. This is the most dangerous part of her recovery because of the length of the operation and anaesthetic. Then she'll have a 'lethal' dose of chemo - they call it this because it's the strongest dose that may be administered - in the hopes of clearing the cancer from the tumour. Then she goes into an isolation bubble for a few weeks, maybe a couple of months because the chemo will leave her with zero immune system. I think they'll then start transfusing her stem cells that they harvested from her previously.
It's a tough ride coming up. But I love their attitude: Donnae's not dying from cancer, she LIVING WITH cancer.

Re: Please Say A Little Prayer

People are sick when they do things like this

Thanks for the update please continue with them will be saying prays for her and a swift recovery :y115:

Re: Please Say A Little Prayer

The good thing that came out was that the guys who were doing the fund-raising actually handed over all the funds collected to CANSA to be used for other children also in need.

I will certainly passp on your good wishes and prayers to Mike and Chanel. Thanks....

Today is a big day and all prayers, faith, good vibes are needed. Donnae goes into theatre today just after lunch time (SA time) for the op to remove the tumor. She'll be in theatre for about 5 hours+. This is a dangerous procedure for Donnae and the recovery is tenuous at this stage. But she's a great little kid - last night she was full of beans chasing my sister around the house and face-painting anything that moved! Her spiritis are high and she's the one keeping us on the bright side.
Thanks guys - I know you'll be with us!
