if you look at 168 west out of bishop zoom in on google maps there are maybe 6 forest service campgrounds. the campground sites include directions, example bitterbrush campground is 13 miles out of bishop. it's up in the sierra at around 7000 ft and snowed in right now. there are some closer and close to the highway, think traffic noise. up 168 will be peace and quiet. the brewery in town has decent food and beer. 120 benton to lee vining is a favorite ride as is 168 east out of big pine south of bishop. I could meet you for a beer or coffee.

Sounds good. I'm not good at planning though. I just wake up one day and hit the road. 168 sounds like the ticket. I've always felt a strange attraction to that town but usually just stop for a rest and move on. I'll send you a PM if I end up going.
