President Trump declared a national state of emergency for the entire US. This does not necessarily mean things are getting worse; it means that that it is now easier for the federal government get federal aid and help to the states - cutting thru normal bureaucracy and red tape. That is a good thing. He also invoked further restrictions on travel, which is also a good thing since almost all of the cases in the US have resulted from foreign travel. .The biggest problem we have is the lack of test kits.

The governor of the State of Florida has declared a state of emergency for the whole State of Florida. Like at the nationa level, this enables funds and support to be directed to the local communities where ad when needed.

All cruise lines have suspended operations. All professional sports are suspended. NASCAR has postponed the next two races. All collegiate and high school sports have been suspended or cancelled. Every major theme park in Florida has closed for the remainder of the month. This is a tremendous blow to Florida's economy. But we have have been through worse aned we will bounce back.

The virus finally made it to my state about 2 days ago, we only have a few cases confirmed so far but that will change soon i am sure. I think Rocky hit the nail on the head when he mentioned responsibility, a little soap and water will do wonders also.

Looks like New York has drive thru testing stations . Suppose they are very experienced at this sort of thing since a lot of disasters seem to begin in New York .

When I see the thread title it hits me more like carnivorous than coronavirus BGRIN
So far no cases here, but when I go out I'll take my latex gloves, gas mask, uranium repellent coverall, and oxygen tank WINK WINK :y43: :y41:

Looks like my trip to Mexico in a couple of weeks will have to be cancelled. I'll decide on Mon/Tues depending on developments in the meantime.

Mexico is listed as low risk but there's a possibility of getting stranded there with concerns then about accommodation and healthcare so leaning toward cancelling at the moment. My insurance allows me to cancel up to 3 hours before take off but the refund is partially in vacation vouchers. My worry then is being in possession of a few thousand dollars worth of vouchers for an airline that's been forced into bankruptcy. No doubt in my mind this is going to force us into a significant recession on top of everything else.

Even worse, we still have over 2 feet of snow and I can't even ride my bikes!

My son his wife and my 18 month old grandson were due to fly over tomorrow from Baltimore but its not safe now so its canceled till June ... finger crossed its better by then .
