I saw this chart on Facebook with the question:

'Why has the world been brought to a stand still? Something seems off here'.

I checked the latest info on the worldometers site and Coronavirus dates are almost 117,000 world wide as of today (13 Apr), so still less than seasonal flu.

I'm not into conspiracy theories, but it does seem to be a legitimate question.

Then you see reports like this

Over 20,000 deaths is terrible, but deaths from other causes are much higher - road traffic accidents over 382,000 for example. Why does nobody seem to care about those deaths? Certainly not enough to shut down the country.

Pause for thought.

When you look at the other deaths reported this is over a year I would think. Now you having this high number over a short period so what will it be if left unchecked over a year.

That's true and statistics can be made to say whatever you like.

I was in Dublin on my way to Frankfurt at the end of February. We spent 8 days traveling around before leaving through Düsseldorf by way of Dublin then into Philadelphia on March 6. Things started to get bad as rumor spread and toilet paper became scarce. It’s now april 13 and everybody’s afraid of doing anything except going shopping for sanitizer and toilet paper. I still go out without a mask and see friends at close range. Not sure how much of this is real. Hospitals are telling staff to report all deaths as corona. But when I see a masked up person buying 3 packs of cigarettes at the Wawa, I’m wondering who’s fooling who? At 74 I’m being told I’m at risk having had both cancer and a cardiac arrest but I’m still feeling fine and my mother’s still alive after having just celebrated her 100 Birthday!

I am just watching a long chat by a professor on our local TV. He is explaining the virus in simple terms with drawings. The way they doing it is great for those less educated people to understand.

Florida seems to have hit a plateau which is a good sign.

Just got a good report for our little province yesterday. All but 2 cases have recovered and no deaths . No new cases in a week or so . We’ve been locked down for a month now so getting ready for some normality. Recreational fishing did not open but looks like it might open in a couple of weeks. Temporary farm and fish workers are headed this way , sounds like they will be tested and isolated and then set loose . This is serious stuff , tourism is our biggest industry, farming and fisheries not far behind . We’re by far the smallest province in Canada but grow the most potatoes , basically one giant farm . First potatoes are being planted now .

Plans underway open the bridge and ferry . Looks like testing for all who come here . Rumour is our largest RV park , population 10 k , may not open despite inquiries from all over the north east . My rotary club has members from Texas and Mass ,they will be here.

We finally got our ventilators, but don’t really need them all now . Alberta is sending PPEs east but mostly to Ontario and Quebec . Alberta‘s health department picked up on the warning signs in early December and would appear they have more than they need and the supply‘s just keep coming ,from China of course . Thats my report ,,, looks like we may get to Labrador after all . Brooke

I think they do care But .. if the virus takes off the hospitals will be full and not capable of handling such things auto accident victims , in which case they will be sent to their car dealer for service. That might not work .
