Who was this group

Don't you just hate it when you thinking of a song and group and you can see them in your head but cannot remember

So who can ID this group for me. They were an all black group along the lines of the 4 Tops but had this chubby short lead singer. I can still see him in this video going crazy while sing a well know Rock & Roll song (That I cannot remember right now)

I hate this as I can see these guys in my head

It was along the style of The Temptations or 4 Tops but it was like a reunion as they were much older. There was this small tubby one with a mic running up and down the stage in front of the other guys that were singing, I thought the guy was going to have a heart attack. He was singing something along the lines of Twist and Shout or one of those type songs. It was not Chubby Checker as far as I can recall

Nope it was a black group and the song was fast as in Lets Twist Again style. The all had on these bright disco type jackets. This is driving me crazy
