My Father passed from complications of prostate cancer. I do not own a vintage bike, however I am going to contact the organizers and see if I can join in, or at least ride sweep for anyone having issues.

This is something new to me/us too, but one of our vintage club members got into it and organized a ride for this coming Sunday.
Depending on how things are at home (wife has health problems), I may be able to get away for part of the ride.
As for proper "gentlemans" attire (????) I think I may just have to wing it :y2:

Ha you said "Wing it" Rocky..........ROTFL

I'm right there with ya Birdman, I laugh and laugh all day long.......no one else knows why but screw 'em anyway I am Happy Happy Happy :y2: Besides when I do tell them, most don't "get it" anyway and the rest threaten to have me committed. SAD

I posted about the Dapper Gentleman's Ride about a month ago. Farside's doing the ride here in SA on Sunday 29 September.

You don't have to have a classic bike but they do want the riders to dress like 'dapper gentleman' IE: no leathers, no club colours etc.

I hope Farside got some pictures and Rocky as well. Here are ours from the morning ride. Perfect 68 degree sunny weather and about 17 bikes. Nice old Velocette, a Sunbeam and a Moto Guzzi scooter where the "elder statesmen" in the bunch and all made the full run without a hiccup. Nice newer Guzzi, some very nice BMW and Triumphs and Ducatis.
AND I was able to take my lovely and talented photographer with me so I actually got some shots DURING the ride. But man I REALLY NEED a go pro. :y2:
Much of the ride was through small 2 lane with huge oak trees overhanging the road and spanish moss dripping from them.....very filled with old "Southern" charm.
The ride came to an end at the Fairhope Al. Pier, beautiful back drop along the Mobile Bay complete with a Sailboat Rally going on as well.

22 of us left on the DGR, but two dropped out with bike problems.
We rode along some coastal back roads ending up at a picnic park on the water for a total of 130 km's.
We had a mixture of bikes, but not a lot of "dapper" dress.
By the time we reached the park the numbers had dwindled to 17, but all in all a great day in the sunshine in 24C temps. A warm day for the end of September.
In the last photo I'm five in from the left.
