Some of the States that sent crews are "Right to Work" states where people have the choice to not join the union if they don't want to.

The crews from Georgia worked at electrical co-op companies that are non-union and have rejected the union. They say they have great benefits and are paid just as well.

This isn't a thread or forum for a detailed debate on such things. I made post #116 to say many have different opinions to those that were being sounded.
Regarding workers rejecting unions and getting greater benefits, those workers are still benefiting from union won conditions. A boss can't expect to pay less than union conditions or the staff will then join a union. I'm sure we have our entrenched views on this subject and debate is probably counterproductive.

It was not intended to be a debate on unions. It was simply pointing out that in an emergency, if you care about the victims of a disaster, you waive normal work rules to get relief to the victims. New York also has union work rules; but apparently they do not apply in emergency situations. NJ refused to waive their work rules - at the expense of those without power. Here in my state, work rules are waived during disaster relief to include weight limits on highways. The idea is to get the job done and relieve suffering. NJ put politics over the needs of the victims.

Speaking of NYC Mayor Bloomberg who wouldn't allow the National Guard into NYC......I just heard on the radio some talk show host reading a story from the NY Post about how Bloomberg also banned people from giving food items to hurricane victims because there is no way for them to regulate the calories and sodium content in donated food items.

I guess this is an extension of his earlier ban on giving food to homeless people under the same guise.

Lol....I guess in his mind it is better to starve than eat too many calories or too much salt!?

Yeah but the way it works your side is if someone now has to have some type of reaction to eating too much of a particular substance contained in the food then they will take the Mayor and city for all they can. So yes rather let them stave to death than put yourself or the city at risk :y10:

The people get what they ask for by the looks of it :y7:

I asked for a foot long chili cheese dog onion rings and a 32 oz. coke.....I got higher taxes so a new department of government could be started to monitor how many foot long chili cheese dogs onion rings and 32 oz cokes I should be allowed to have at a safe level (if at all).SAD Not really what I asked for........
