to give a good reference the chrome "Instrument Panel" in the tank is exactly the same in the 1600 and on the Rocket Touring

Yes, but i'm thinking more customizable. Not just custom mirrors and screaming eagle kits like HD. Imagine if you could buy a different tank that looks more triumph instead of HD and with no console on it and it comes with a speedo and tach and a mounting plate for them above the bars. Things like that which change the whole bike's look. When they describe it in that triumph quote it sounds like they are saying there will be parts available to radically change the bike to what would be a very different model. For example, imagine if the bonnie had a kit that would change it into a thruxton....that kind of thing. this way they only need to make one model of it and make a ton of $ on aftermarket accessories and the possibility of selling a lot more bikes. I've been to HD shops a lot because when i first got my speedy i went all over looking for the perfect mirrors and fork bag and other things. So i got quite familiar with thier accessory line, and it's about the same as our twins accessories except that they have many more varieties of each thing. for example, a dozen or more mirrors vs one mirror for ours. But not the kind of changes i'm talking about. But that said, i'm just guessing and i may be wrong. What they describe in the quote however sure sounds like it.It will be interesting to see because if they do what i'm talking about it WILL be revolutionary.

You honestly believe the 1600 is almost a foot longer than the 2300?!
Honestly I don't see why not.
For instance:
Triumph Rocket Touring (2300cc) wheelbase: 1708mm
H-D VRSCA V-Rod (1250cc) wheelbase: 1,715 mm

come one !!1 Look at a Vrod....the front end is raked like a chopper, not to mention you're citing less than an inch difference where in that comparison pic i posted the 1600 looks to be closer to a foot different !!! OK, maybe 8 inches. But if youre gonna go to google and start searching for wheelbase figures you ought to search more so you can realize something....the wheelbase difference in that pic i posted is so far fetched it would be like comparing 500cc bikes to the rocket. I'm sorry, but you're really stretching, and those pics are way off scale-wise. In fact, common sense should tell you that for them to be scaled the same would simply be a stroke of luck. I assure you nearly no pics you see will be scaled exactly the same unless they're from the same photo session with the bikes and cameras spaced exactly the same for each shot. Think about it.

Now, i just did a bit of spec searching and the america wheelbase vs the R3 is as follows.... 65.2" vs 66.7". An inch and a 1/2 difference between triumph's 900 cruiser and thier 2300 cruiser. And you think the difference between the R3 and 1600 is going to be what in that pic is easily 8 or 10" ? keep trying...you're wrong...the pics are out of scale from each other. Now, go look at and sit on a Vrod. i have.

That they have. And, if you subtract the poseurs and wannabes, that is a large part of their popularity. You can do some many mods with them.

thats really nice ! You're wrong so you remove the proof that you are?! I like a lot of people here, and for the most part they're all nice. But thats the kind of moderating i expect from a juvenile, and i'd rather not post here anymore if i have to deal with this kind of kindergarten mentality. You might wanna check out the RAT forum. You might fit in nicely there. see ya.

I agree, Gary. Kiss and make up. There is plenty of room for conflicting opinions here. We can always agree to disagree. We will not know who is right until we see the bikes or at least see the specs.

Daz, Joao removed the photos because he posted them; he did not not remove them as a moderator. One can always edit of remove one's own posts.

I see. Sorry, i thought he removed the one i posted. I appologize....i should have checked to see what was removed, but when he said "Problem solved: Comparing image removed" i thought it was the pic i posted comparing the wheelbases. It also says moderator under his name so i figured he was a mod. As the warden said in cool hand luke, "what we have here is a failur to communicate". On my part tho, so sorry jmv2006.

- I was just trying to convey what my dealer – who actually saw the 1600 Thunderbird - told me.
- I don’t even have an opinion on this matter other than I don’t see any direct connection between engine displacement and wheelbase. I know 125cc bikes longer than 1,000cc ones.
- I don’t like cruisers
- I never was rude to anybody here.
- I never exercised here any privilege of Moderator
- I’m out!

But i still say the bike ain't that big ! :y24:
I noticed before that my dealer tends to exaggerate… :y26:
… mainly on the bills that he presents me with!!! :y20:
:y24: :y24: :y24:

In all seriousness tho, i think whether he's (your dealer ) exaggerating on the 1600 size or just mistaken, i really cannot imagine the size being as big let alone bigger than a rocket. So I believe one way or another he's off a bit there, and we'll just have to wait and see because it may well be rather big. Not THAT big, but big. I however would still consider it as long as it's not as big as a R3 which i as you know I seriously doubt.
I tested a R3 and it felt bigger than i'd have liked, but had it felt and sounded the way i like (IE: like a twin) i may have bought one anyways. And the 1600 i like the looks of much more and love twins far more than the R3 motor. So if this is even a little smaller and sounds and feels like what it is, a twin, i don't think i will have control over my wallet. The thought of a similar bike to my speedmaster with around double the power and a quiet valve train and no valve adjustments is the kind of bike i fantasize about regularly. My 3 biggest issues with it are the lack of a tach, the rear fender, and the 1 year wait !!! I can deal with the first 2 tho. :)

Yes and I think this is the one thing that Triumph looks like they are doing to try and get the HD people to switch over.
