Win 8 is the newest operating system from Microsoft. It is really designed for the newer generation of touch screens. It is quite a bit different from Win 7. I was thinking of upgrading; but I really didn't like it. I recommend that you get a new laptop with Win 7.

Looks like that may be the way to go or just go on out and get yourself a new PC with Win7 before they only come out with Win8 lol

Quote,
"get yourself a new PC with Win7".

Looks like it will be a new Win7. While not regretting the purchase of the cheap camera, when the call came in today saying the "GoPrp 3 Black" allocated to me was in stock I went straight into town and picked it up. So now I have two little sports cameras that I can't work.:y15: I took a test vid and played it back on my XP machine and to cut a long story short it jumps about as the PC is too slow for the recording. What I could see was amazing quality. Went to my mum's Win7 and played the vid perfectly. My computer man arrives at about 10am tomorrow to talk about my options and I'm thinking new PC. On the phone he said he uses Pinnacle Studio for his editing and recommends it to me, any one know of it?

Well I think you ready to get a new PC by the looks of it. If possible go for the best setup you can possible afford so at least it is not outdated by the end of the month. Also go for Windows 7 64bit with loads of memory (RAM) as this will make a huge difference when doing video editing. As far as the Pinnacle Studio goes I don't know much about video editing as I don't do videos but I am sure Harry will have some input here BBEER

Just a little off topic, I mentioned in PM's to Harry and possibly on the forum that I've been painting at my daughters place hence not having a lot of time to get my teeth into this vid camera project. Actually it was a bit more than painting, I extended a room by 3 mtr by taking a wall and window out and filling in 3 mtr of a deck, the painting was the end of the job.

Beyond where the ceiling drops between the two windows on the right is the extension. Now I'm taking a bit of personal time out, just a bit sick of working for my kids. :y16:

VERY nice work, Kevin. Your talents amaze me.

I have heard of Pinnacle Studio; but like I am new to video editing and don't know much about it. Congrats on the GoPro Hero 3.

Nice job on the extension TUP
I had to laugh at your comment about working for the kids.
My son-in-law is a wonderful guy, but he's not very "handy." When some chore needs to be done to their house, guess who my daughter calls BGRIN

Start charging them for your time and its amazing how handy they can become.

Not knocking your mans advice, its just another opinion on the interweb, but it does give a comparison chart.

All advice taken on, thanks.
I'm sure that with a new PC and an editing program made in recent times I'll get up to speed (well at least stop being a spectator and become a C grade competitor).

The man came, took one look at the two computers and told me not to waste money on a second Win7 machine. I've now put all of mum's stuff onto my old XP and it's working well for her requirements. I'm now working on my (x mums) Win7. I still have things to do such as install Office etc but I'm on my way. This isn't 64 bit and has a built in vid card but will be upgraded accordingly next week when he come back, even so before next weeks upgrades I can the difference.

Off to pick up a h/bar clamp and a lcd backpack for my GoPro now. :y2:

I was thinking swapping with your Mum might be the go
I know my old mum still panics every time I talk about throwing out her old 95 machine.Mind you all she does with it is emails and play cards occasionally
Good idea on the handlebar mount.

Glad to hear that you resolved the computer problems and have a Win 7 machine. I am still running 32 bit Win 7 on my new machine. I will upgrade it to 64 bit, though. I was going to install Win 8 on it; but I didn't like Win 8.
