This is my favourite - Flower of Scotland. And to be in Murrayfield when this is sung is just amazing - chills and tears! The words are so emotive and proud!

I'm not even Welsh, but this is a great anthem...

Here in the States, we don't have "anthems" for our sports teams although our local Pittsburgh Steelers have kind of adopted the song "Renegade" by the band Styx.

This is a video made by the Pittsburgh Penguins congratulating the Pittsburgh Steelers on their last Super Bowl Championship featuring Renegade:

Wales does have a beautiful anthem. I also like the Irish one but can't find a decent copy on youtube - will keep searching.

Seeker, the US national anthem is a very emotive anthem particularly if you listen to the words carefully. Most countries don't have a specific rugby anthem or sports anthem, but Scotland sings Flower of Scotland in a bit of a rebellios thing - I believe the Scots National Anthem is actually God Save the Queen because it is part of the United Kingdom but the Scots generally insist that Scotland the Brave is their national anthem - I stand to correction on this so if I've got anything wrong, please set me straight.

Both France and Italy have national anthems which are very jolly :y16:. They always bring a smile to my face.

But for the ultimate sports team anthem, there can be only one;

At NHL hockey games, they always begin the game with the National Anthems of the two team playing.

NOBODY sings O Canada and the Star Spangled Banner better than Lyndon Slewidge of the Ontario Provincial Police!

Liverpool's anthem is probably the best known but it's for soccer:( My late father-in-law was the groundsman at Anfield and I was fortunate enough to go to a few games with him. The trophy room at The Kop is very, very impressive! Although I enjoyed going to the games, I prefer the atmosphere at rugby matches and the rugby fans are far better behaved than the soccer hoolies.

I only started knowing the Italian anthem because of Rossi :-) and it is a great anthem.
I suppose I'd better post this before I'm accused of being totally unpatriotic :y2: September 2007 RWC - SA vs England - SA: 36 - Eng: 0

This became our non-official Rugby Anthem "Shosholoza"
Shosholoza = move forward (or make way for the next man)
Kulezo ntaba = at those far away mountains
Stimela siphume South Afrika = steam train that comes from South Afrika
wen uya baleka = because you are rushing
kulezo ntaba stimela siphume South Afrika
Originally sung by men from Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) who rode the train into South Africa to work in the mines. You can hear the steam train in the words.

Ha ha Otherwise - you're right though; it is Paul Simon with LBM but I'm biased you know!

And when are we going to see the Ozzie Anthem? At a rugby game ofcourse! I've been waiting for the men down under to wake up :-)
