Old Bike Injury

Over the years of riding I have had two instances where I have broken both my collarbones at different times. Back then they would just put your arm in a sling and send you on your way.

Both times it seemed to heal with no issue. Now that I am a bit older these are coming back to haunt me. So it seems I will now need to go for an operation to have them both fixed. They can only do one at a time so this means two operations.

Over the last two years it has become so bad that I stopped riding so with a bit of luck once they sorted I will be able to get back on the bike.

Ah yes, our misspent youth coming back to haunt us BGRIN
It's unfortunate that you have to go through this after all these years - and twice for the love of Pete!!!!!!
This is not going to be any fun at all FACE

Dave, I am sorry that you will have to go through this. You are correct, they do treat collarbone injuries differently today. One of my riding buddies, who is 77 years old, recently broke his collarbone playing with grand kids! He is learning he os no longer 25 years old!! He had surgery and will be unable to ride for a couple of months. That surgery and the resulting therapy is no picnic.

I would consider private repair and have it straightened with Needle Inserted through centre of Bone to its natural length. It takes longer to grow.
Then do some Body Building on Chest to thicken up the bone.
Alternatively, drink Castrol R30's for Breakfast. It won't fix it, but it will take your mind off the pain!

And good luck Dave...

Between your old injuries and renovation bandits, you're not having a very good time FACE
If it has to be done, best to get it over with ASAP so you can get back to normal.
No idea what normal is...
It seems to be, playing Video Games and looking at a small screen.
None of which I like doing. Something to do with its not real.
Latest is , it turns people into Autistic... Which explains the in ability to Talk.
But what got my attention was, restoring Bandits.
I'm assuming were talking BSA. Not Suzuki's 1990's.
When the Press did a release on them , they were a little surprised at the Engine Size. I was too.
Then , nothing was heard about them , Not sure if the company , went into receivership at that time or they didn't sell.
All I heard was , production on the bandit had stopped, before it ever started.
So I never actually ever saw one , until I Visited the National Motorcycle Museum outside Birmingham.
They had Just One.
More recently ( last 20 years ) I read they actually made about 200 of them. But it seems , the people who bought them , had to bend a few Ears in England to get one.
I'm guessing , most would have gone straight to America. But obviously , they would have needed to have shipped 10,000 in one go. But financial troubles , at that time, would have made that impossible or improbable.
So the Bandits a very rare bird.
Did they ever make a Triumph Version ?
Fingers crossed, for your friends Dollar Bones.

@ChrisAnglophile since I retiered 3 years ago my normal has changed completely, I am still trying to get a handle on it BGRIN
Me too, in theory, starts Monday.
Practically, more complex.
Doesn't matter how hard I try, the hill just gets steep, the closer to the top.
I just stay true to myself.
It mystifies me , how people who enter my 10 metre sphere , get it so Wrong.
Enjoy your day, I don't think life in USA is always easy.
