Yeah, hard to find and not cheap, thats why i'm looking at getting my seat worked on, or possibly buying one of those gel seat pads or something.

I have a 4 hour ride either tonight or in the morning, and its not going to be a comfortable one.

The trouble with any type of seat pad is that it adds to the seat height. The gel seat is more comfortable, but it's not any lower. A Corbin leather saddle is about an inch lower, but I found them harder too. I sold the one I had because it was too hard. But I evidently must be exactly the right height and leg length that I don't experience the nut-cracker effect with the stock seat either so I could do that.

In your case, either get the seat worked on or get a Corbin. The Corbin is lower and doesn't make you slide into the tank.

For your trip....maybe just some cheap foam padding as a temporary measure would help?

I live in a big cycling town, and have also thought about buying some cushioned biker shorts to wear under my pants, the kind cycle distance racers wear, they are usually really well padded around the groin area, i'm not a biker, so i don't know if there are different padding options or anything, but with all the dedicated bike shops, i'm sure someone can reccomend something.

First off, I'm okay, thankfully.

Sorry Seeker, I just tore up one of the stain tunes.

was at a red light with an suv in front of me, light turned green, suv took off, but right under neath his car was a plastic hub cap. my front tire ran up on top of it and the front end dropped out. bike slid a good 20' or so. I saw it comming and basically my racing background took over and tucked and rolled and aside from some road rashed forearms, i'm fine. People called 911 so I had to get inspected by the cops and EMS, but deemed me fine to carry on my day. I was at a red light, so I couln't have been going more than 10 mph.

the right side of the bike got ground down pretty good. blinker got torn off, but otherwise I think its okay.

but damn, cop picked up the bike, and it fired right up, and I rode it the few blocks back to work. Aside from the right fairing cracked and ground down, the exhaust got scuffed up pretty good, the bike seems to be okay. I'll deff check it out to make sure its safe to ride home.

I'll go over it tonight, and check it out. hopefully there is no mechanical damage.

Jixr, I am sorry to hear about your off. That really sucks. I am glad you were not seriously hurt and that your bike is rideable. Hopefully all the damage is merely cosmetic.

Yeah, the damage seems to be all cosmetic, rode the bike home from work, but I really feel like hell, now that the rush has calmed down, i'm really starting to hurt.

went back to the scene of the crash, turns out it was worse than i thought, the bike slid completely across the intersection and a good 20' past it, and I probably rolled a good 20'-30' I remember trying to stand up but I was still rolling too fast so i just kept on going.

Luckly, the damage is all to my arms and knees, although my hip got hit very bad, I may have to go to the doc if i'm not feeling any better by tomorrow.

So, it seems the bike is mechanically sound, took it out on a spin, and FML, picked up another screw.

I also noticed several small nicks in the tire, its a michellen pilot pro 2ct ( dual compound ) tire, its a very agressive sport bike tire, but I think its too soft of a tire for the trophy.

What do you guys suggest for a hard compound tire for the bike?

Also, on my side panel, should I just sand it down and clean it up, find a replacement on ebay, or just give the whole bike a rattle can paint job?

( I also think I knocked the windscreen/nose mount a bit, its a little to the left compared to the handlebars when riding straight.

So much for fixing the bike up like I wanted, now I need to replace my helmet ( or at least use my gf's till I can replace it ) new rear tire, and possibly a side faring panel.

Alright, well since I need a new tire, and i'm still pretty sore, I've decided i'm just going to fix up the panel as best I can with a small budget. to properly repair it would require to just buy a panel off ebay, then get it professionally color matched painted.
I've done a bit of DIY bodywork, so I kinda know what i'm doing. Not really looking for it to look brand new, but if I can get a " well, it looks close " then thats good enough for me. As even a pro job won't be able to match 10 years worth of sun exposure to the paint.

I fiberglassed the back of the 6" long crack, and then filled in the crack with JB weld ( holds stronger than body filler, and is just as sandable ) and after I get back in town from this weekend, i'm going to get some body filler and fill in the areas that got ground smooth from the road, then will sand that as smooth as I can.

Several autostores sell rattle can paint that matches common car colors, and there are a few silverly colors that look like they could be a match, so I'll probably pick the closest 3 colors, and paint something with them, then compare to find which is closest. Then after several light layers (and turning my closet into a spray booth )
i'll clear, wetsand, and buff. looking to do it all for under $75, the fiberglass kit was about $15, the body filler will be another 10, paint will be $30, plus sandpaper.

maybe if it turns out half-decent, i may do the left panel as well, it has a few nicks in it. if the damage was slightly smaller, I would have just found a big brittish flag sticker to cover the damage and call it a day lol.

Still looking for rear tire options, open to ideas ( preferably budget friendly )

I'll look into those, I need something with long life and a harder compound while still an agressive profile.

the PP 2ct i have now stick like glue, but the bike is too heavy for them, and the rear has tiny little nicks all over the tire from rocks, and is too soft that it will pick up anything you run over. the front is still holding fine though.
I think I have about 4k miles on them right now, plenty of tread left, but all the tiny nicks are leaking air. ( i found out that cycle gear has a tire warranty program, basically will replace any punctured tire with in 25% of tread, and will discount a new tire based on remaining tire life for $25 ) Just looking to replace the rear for now.

and as far as the nose fairing stay, i'm sure I can just manually bend it over, I only noticed on a stretch of back highway thats flat and straight for a good 60 miles, that my dials were slightly off center.
