Dave, i hate to do this to you because i know you're love of red triumph cruisers and how you like the Tbird. But man, i swear i was actually considering selling mine for this new model. It's the 1700 engine. Got a amazing paint job, more vintage like triumph tank badge, smaller front wheel with bigger tire which i thought i'd hate bit i am LOVING it. The seat looks really nice, those the pillion has to come off ads i did with mine. I like the dual lights and the shrouded forks both on the legs and that shroud the light fit on. But i couldn't really do it because there are things i don't like, some of which are not changeable, the major one being the almost certainty that the ECU for '14 with be locked so no custom tunes. secondly, i HATE floorboards and it's big HD like rear light/plate assembly. Says "commander" on the right side pulley cover which looks stupid. Pipes....hate em. But hopefully short tors will work on it. Power is down a bit and weight up a bit. So too many things i don't like. But somehow even with all that i can't take my eyes off it. It's gorgeous. Oh, one more negative....the neck between the tanks and forks was extended so theres a big bare area there. Bothers many others more than I but I don't care for that much either. They also came out with one called the tbird LT which looks so much like a HD bagger it makes me ill. I won't even post a pic for fear some here may also get ill. :y2: But gotta love the look of this....well, I do anyways. Just imagine the look without the pillion. The pic of mine in my sig will show a Tbird w/o pillion.....much better looking.

By the way, i think i didn't mention it but this one is called the thunderbird commander and the other new one the thunderbird LT which i think stands for light touring. These models are NOT replacing the regular thunderbird 1600 or the thunderbird storm 1700. They are just 2 new variants so there are now 4 thunderbirds available. And both new ones are 1700, but as i said slightly less power and torque than the storm. Why i dunno.

Sure is. I will keep eyeballing it and if i find out the ECU will not be locked or theres a hack via tuneecu or some such thing, i will likely consider it. Maybe unlikely because i really can't justify it. But i'm not going to rule out the possibility till i have a lot more info about concerns i have with it. But it really really caught my eye in a big way. theres also a graphite sorta color thats beautiful too, but the red is just a knockout. And for me red is one of the last colors i'd choose. but this one is just much different.

Yes. They now have the storm, the regular Tbird, the Tbird commander, and the LT bagger. The commander and LT have whole new frames to accommodate other changes including if not only the new front wheel. That makes the headstock area longer giving what a lot of people are hating a long bare space there between the head and the tank. Can't tell in the above pic tho. It also may not look as bad in person. I do love that new front and and smaller wheel/bigger tire tho.

Thanks Dazco! I had looked on Triumph/USA website and it only showed a 2013 Storm. I might buy the Storm over the Rocket 3 Roadster. Still undecided... :-(

Well after looking at more photos of it the longer neck would be the show stopper for me if I were thinking of purchasing one. The gap just looks like something was left off or a mistake was made in the design and they only noticed it when it was to late. They starting to also look more like a HD than what a HD looks like :y2:

I'm not sure what the fuss is over this new T-Bird LT (Long Tourer). The bike is stunning in person. I get the criticism on the longer neck, it really isn't an eyesore. I think the neck on the Victories and Indians look way worse than the Triumph. I have to commend Triumph for the effort.

I love this bike, especially in RED and just want to know the UK price so I can decide if to put my Sprint GT in for an exchange. This is a great looking bike IMO. Just as I would have customised a Standard T/Bird but straight from the factory floor and with the 1700cc engine. great.

Please take a hair dryer on low heat setting and take the info sticker off the fuel tank. Beautiful bike. I had wanted a 14 model until the dealership here called and offered me a barely broken in Storm for $8995. Signed the papers on that one via overnight courier yesterday. Now I am a two Triumph guy.
I see another Rocket lurking in the background of your picture as well

Congratulations on the new Storm. TUP

Thanks. I am reading your list of toys, nice. Bought the headlight kill relay harness and the TBird patch from FeS today. Let the games begin.

Thanks for your service and any other veterans on here. My Dad is in Arlington. Perhaps we can organize a ride there someday. I go participate in Wreaths Across America as often as possible

Very nice, I'm not too sure about the style of the exhausts, I think something a bit better looking than a drain pipe could have been put on the Commander. ( But I'm used to my peashooter style on my 95 Thunderbird ). But that aside cracking bikes. Can't wait to see them in the flesh. They do seem to tick all the boxes for cruising North America. Hope that Triumph sell bucket loads of them.
