My Bonnie is on the paint atelier. :y115:
Here is the sketch of the its new paint scheme to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Triumph Bonneville

The idea of having my version of a “Bonneville 50th Anniversary Celebration†paint scheme started when I first saw the Belstaff Bonnie. After a close look I find they exaggerated in the gold: Far too much!!! :y26:
Almost feminine! :y27:

Then I made a research on old black/gold Triumphs. I was surprised when I only found two Triumphs ever to be painted with those colours (coincidently two Bonnies).
Although black/gold was a combination frequently used by almost every British brand, only these two very late Meriden machines used it originally. :y22:

Of these bikes only the name gave me an idea: 750 TSS > 865 TSS to keep the designation with some “historyâ€. :y45:

Finally I decided to use as inspiration the most beautiful of them all: The Norton Commando 961 SS project. :y115:

Well you certainly did your homework on this and I was very interested to hear how you finally came to the end product. Now I wasn’t to see the finished product even more

Here ya go Joao
Found this specially for you
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motors/Motorbikes/Motorbikes/Classic-vintage/auction-165539130.htm
:y18:
Thank you for the info Devo but… :y19:
Staring bid: NZ$6,750.00 = US$5,200.00 = €3,275.00 = £2,600.00
He must be joking! :y22:
Actually I’m not very fond of any Triumph built after 1971. :y27:
Or of any other British-built vehicle for that matter.
The peak was 1960/70: Triumph Bonneville, Norton Commando, BSA Goldstar, Mini-Cooper, E-Type Jaguar, Aston Martin DB-5, etc. etc. They had the best in looks and performance! :y45:
Then came the strike years (1971/1980)! And down went ALL the British motor industry in one go! :y41:

So have you got your bike back from the painter yet, how’s the upgrade going?
- The painted parts will be ready tomorrow.
- The "Air Box Elimination Kit" I ordered (and paid!) from British-Customs on the 9th July didn't arrive yet :y20:

Joao, I agree and I would make that after 1970. The OIF's began in 1971. I certainly agree 1960-1970 peak with a few exceptions. I would like a '59 just for the historical significance. And GrandPaul has that jewel that came about five years too late.

That said, I do own a 71 TR6R Tiger that I am going to rebuild as a TR6C Trophy. I'm long legged enough that the seat height of the 71- 72 OIF's does not bother me. Would I prefer a 66-70 TR6C? You betcha.

First photos of the bike after the paint job was done but still in the workshop.
Still to go:
- Airbox elimination kit (already here)
- Rear mudguard
It will be ready for a full photo session next Friday :y115:
