The reasoning leaves me baffled....they say it's to prevent HIV. But HIV must be transmitted through direct contact. It's anaerobic so the instant it hits air, it dies.

The only way this makes sense is if two people are sharing a chipped glass pipe and both get cut on it.

This was their reasoning...as far fetched as it seems.

I have to say though, that on a scale of problem issues in this city, that vending machine is pretty far down my list. Our mayor - who is known locally as Mayor Moonbeam - has jeopardized or put out of business many small business by closing motorized traffic in favour of bicycle lanes, is instituting a program of free bicycle loans that will cost taxpayers millions of dollars, even though we have thriving bicycle rental companies all over the city and has given money to failed (scam) companies that intended to grow vegetables on city roofs.
We pay for places where heroin addicts can go to shoot up indoors and are supplied with needles and onsite staff and vans running around the city handing out syringes and needles.

A crack pipe machine is small potatoes. However, what I do find amusing and you can't see in the pic on this link, is that the machine is covered in big colourful poka dots and looks like it is vending kids candy. I will try and find a picture and post it.

Hey, he's not a crack head...sure, he's smoked some, he explained, but he was so drunk at the time he can't be held responsible if someone shoves a pipe in front of him.

If you already smoking crack would you really go out of your way to find one of these and then still pay to get a pipe just to insure you stay healthy. I mean it is not as if crack itself is bad for your health

I always maintain that the minute you take that first hit of any type of drug it is all over for you and there is just no turning back after that.

Now here is another angle. If your an enterprising young cop and need to make this months quota ......head to the crack pipe vending machine and arrest away the day as the "customers" leave.......ods are good they bought the pipe they got something to put in it eh?
