......because it's that time of year when I start rolling my bikes inside for the winter.
It's still a long way from winter, but the nights are getting down near the freezing mark and the days barely get up to 10C (50F) and getting a bit cooler each day.
We often get spurts of warm southern air into November offering a decent riding day, but the rest of the time is too cold to really enjoy a ride - even for an hour or so.
For me, it's just not worth it to wait and hope - and then have to change oil and filters in my unheated garage. I would rather do it now in relative comfort.
They're all inside now except for one Honda which I'll take for a short ride today to heat the oil as soon as it warms up some, and then change the fluids before rolling it inside.
But I'm not all that sad about the season ending. This is a fact of life here and we had a very dry summer for a change with lots of riding so I'm not wanting.
A fact of life or not doesn't mean I have to like it - but whatcha gonna do BGRIN

After a bad September & mixed October, it appears that November will be great. Now I have to get rid of my cold and get back on the bikes as long as possible

I guess we're lucky to a certain extent in the UK, we can almost ride all year in some parts, Scotland could be the exception. It's chilly that's for sure, but I'm still able to get out if I so choose, it wouldn't be so bad if we could look forward to a decent summer, but as we all know our weather can be depressing at times, I just look at winter as an extension to our summers, then it doesn't seem so bad.

Rocky soon be summer again.

The winters seem to pass quickly, but at the same time I don't want to wish my life away BGRIN
At my age, wondering how many "next years" I have left in the saddle, sometimes creeps in.
So far I've been blessed with good health, strength and reflexes, but I don't take it for granted.

:y45: Couldn't agree with you more, Rocky..................time waits for no one! Once again, this weekend, I'll try to summon up my courage and get the heated gear on and take a ride. When I was younger, it was no problem, but now I find myself making excuses not to do it. I'm just waiting for my time in Florida to roll around. Jim

Well, the deed is done.
The last bike is now inside where it's warm and dry for the winter.
I've often thought about heated clothing, but I'm retired and can ride anytime I want during the summer so I get in a lot of riding.
When the cold weather comes I don't mind giving it up - not that I have much choice anyway.
At best, you really can't ride beyond the end of November because it's simply too cold regardless of any heated gear.

Yes indeed, freshly fallen snow has wonderland appearance and is beautiful to look at - unless it's piled high in your driveway and on your sidewalk - then it's not quite so wondrous BGRIN

Don't have a picture of my house, but this was the day after Christmas 2015... great weather, no snow until February (for approximately 5 days)
