Hello all,
Just joined from the UK and looking forward to picking up my new 2016 Triumph Thruxton in black, on Friday next week. Initial extras include Café Racer fairing, Lowered clip-ons and heated grips.
The Triumph wasn't even on my radar- i was about to get a Yamaha XSR900 - until 2 things happened. Firstly, my Mother sent me some old photos recently including one of my Grandfather sat on his BSA A7 parallel twin in 1948 looking 'cool as' and secondly, by chance getting to ride the Thruxton R at a recent motorcycle show here. It was a proper emotional connection, helped by the fact the bike was exactly what I was looking for in terms of power and smoothness, but didn't really know until I rode it.
Ordering an R would I've meant a 5 month wait, I preferred the black anyway and my riding ability has never really warranted Showa/Ohlins/Brembo! So I blew my budget by £2k over the Yam but went for the fairing instead of an R.
Looking forward to a Summer of exploring the local countryside (fortunately it's the Cotswolds) on it and recreating the photo of my Grandfather, having found the exact street it was taken on in '48
