I saw my surgeon today for a routine followup. The last time I saw him in September he said he wanted to see full range of motion in my shoulder by today and demonstrated by flailing his arm around in a circle.
I thought that was being just a bit too optimistic but told him I would do my best.
I don't have full range of motion yet, and expected to hear about it from him, but when I demonstrated what I could do he said, "That's pretty damn good!"
He was very encouraging and urged me to continue with the physio and keep putting my all into it as progress will be slower from now on.
I assured him I was a hard worker, and not a slacker or a wimp, and will give it 100%.
He gave me a confident smile and said, "I know you will".
I'll see him again in another three months.
on Dec. 5 it will be five months since the crash, and except for extreme arm movements above my head and behind my back, my life is about 85% normal.
I'm pretty proud of what I've accomplished so far, but the road is still a long one.
