I braved the temps last night and rode to bike night. Those that made it to the cafe really enjoyed the exhaust note. As we were leaving, the two headed my direction in their cages got passed by a growling Tiger. The first one flashed his lights as I went around, I think he still enjoyed the growl. I heard from the other one this afternoon, said the bike really sounded great when I blew his doors off.

Fuel exhausts... Never heard of them. can you run it with the stock heat shield. gotta protect my wife's assetts....

Tim, I just took a close look at the heat shield on the stock can. It will not mount without some modifications. I did see a couple ways it could be done. I'll list my ideas on this. . .

  • It might be possible to use a couple large SS Hose Clamps. You would need to come up with a spacer to raise the heat shield to have the same clearance for the needed air space to help dissipate the heat
  • Second would be to weld spacers like the ones on the stock can to the Fuel Exhaust can. I wouldn't think this would be the way to go. A welder may have a different idea on this, maybe it would work ok with a MIG or TIG welder.

Thought I would add a little more info on the exhaust.

The model I installed:

Bike: Tiger 800 / XC (2011>)
Range: Classic Exhaust Range
Shape: Round
Finish: Brushed Stainless
Length: 350mm (Mini)
Price: £149.99 incl. VAT . . . £174.99 delivered to the US since the £25.00 VAT was dropped and added £50.00 shipping The exchange rate was a little lower when I ordered so it cost me $214.75 USD, the current rate puts it at 219.14 USD.

That's a good price. I looked at the sight. They have an oval carbon fiber. In just one length. Calls it short. Do you know how long the one you bought was?

Hemi that's a good looking exhaust you've bought there, and it sounds good too. Well pleased that you got it OK from UK in perfect condition. I've just read your shopping list for her, and I'd be well interested when you get to the part about converting your wheels to tubeless tyres I have been toying with this idea for a long time. I've seen it done on a French Tiger many years ago. This chap converted the spokes with the silicone sealant, but I'm sure that it'll be a lot more involved that just that alone. I contacted various companies some said it couldn't be done and others were non committal. It will be a very interesting to see how you'll go about doing the conversion.

The candy bar they sent with it was pretty good too. :y2:

After further research, the rear wheel on the Tiger can be converted to tubeless with no safety concerns. The front wheel does not support the conversion. I'll see about grabbing the info I've gathered and post it in the Frugal Biker section. Some of the procedures will qualify as frugal, others are outside what I would call frugal. I'm still looking for the best option to address the front wheel, there may not be a option that I am willing to use.

You are forgiven " Super Bee ", now all that remains is to show Texas your new silencer with some fantastic road trips using your nice camera fixed to your bike, for the benefit of all here who might not be riding due to crap weather ( Christ what a mouthful ). Well what are you reading this for get out on that bike. Ride safe.
:CameraSmile:BBEER Oh yes, with all the above waffling I forgot to say" Nice exhaust "

Thanks MOT. I missed the Texas Honor Ride on Saturday. Temps were -1C with rain and the thought of riding 600 miles in that weather just didn't appeal to my sore back and hips. I hope to get out here shortly and introduce Texas to the growl of a British can on a British bike as soon as I can and I will post the videos. TUP

I had gone for another Physical Therapy session this afternoon and when I arrived home, this was sitting at my front door.

In at least 3 spots it says "Triumph Tiger 800XC". This is pretty cool but I haven't ordered anything for Jessica that hasn't already been delivered. I think I know what it is. . .

My Happy Trails pannier racks. Somebody is going to have a GREAT Christmas. :y2:

If I had had more time I would have and then plead the 5th or said, "Well, it was addressed to me." But I had to hurry up and get dressed for work. I've got a feeling it won't be in the same spot I left it when I came to work. SIGH
