No thanks mate we should be good.....I was digging a trench down the side of the house at 10pm last night because we had water coming up under the slab....I have to grade it and throw turf down to filter it better. We got water coming through a vent which found its way through to the kitchen window and water coming through the wall in the bedroom. All in all not to bad concidering others. We had flashes of power loss but nothing to worry about. I know one guy that was getting water out of his house with buckets through last night. We are still getting rain.....even now as I write this....sod me it dont wanna go away.....Look at this way in a couple weeks I will be mad its back in the 90's...hahahaah. Havent had the bike out in a while im getting withdrawls....

Didnt get to work today which is gonna be a right pain next week.......bit of sun and Im in trouble. Looked at one lawn and its long already. Here we have another coming at us right.....I cant handle no more of this....

There is the strange yellowish, white orb in the sky today and the sky is a funny color - blue. This is the first sunshine since Monday morning. I'm about to RIDE!!

Great ride. Rode up to the Deland area. which is about 28 miles (45 Kilometers) north of me. Deland had about 20 inches (43.2 cm) of rain. Deland is hilly (for Florida) and has a lot of lakes and these lakes are now over flowing. Deland itself is high and dry; but recent developments were built in lower flat areas. And since water runs down hill... Homes in the range of $350K -$500K USD have from six inches (15.2 cm) to to three feet (1 meter of water in them in several subdivisions. A sinkhole has swallowed up a good hunk of US 17/US 92 just south of Orange City. It had caved in just before I got there. I detoured around that and came up on a washout in progress. It has swallowed up one of the two south/west bound lanes and was beginning to devour one of the north/east bound lanes. Lot of unhappy folks up that way.

The city has pumped enough water out of the lake below me to get the water out of the the streets. It is no longer threatening to flood the homes. But - our afternoon rains have returned.

I had intended to mow my yard, clean up Dad's yard, and then take a ride. Just as I got Dad's yard done, the bottom fell out. In three hours, I got four inches of rain at my house. Needless to say, I did not get a ride in. I will try for tomorrow afternoon.

I did manage to give the airboat a little "on the trailer shakedown".....just in case.

You might need that airboat just to go to town if this rain keeps up! I studying a design with outriggers and a paddle wheel in place of the rear tire for my Bonnie!

Fuzzy,

Get a ride in early mate because it's meant to come in again tomorrow afternoon. Bloody last time I rode was on my birthday after work last friday......I'm starting to scratch my arms, going light headed and foam at the mouth....

Carl, i would of come out with ya today mate...all i did was get the stuff out the garage, pulled the bike out, let it tick over for a while, put it in first and rode it back in the garage...blimey I should join a bike gang with riding like that. At least some of us are getting out to ride.

Some areas are slowly drying out. Florida's sand soils absorb a lot of moisture. We are still getting rain every day which slows the drying out down. Those of us who live live and work on high ground are fine. Those in the low locations are still flooded. The ground is saturated.

Wow that is a lot of water falling out of the sky.

Funny in this thread you mentioned the fire ants and we had a feature on National Geographic Channel on them the other night. Made it a lot more interesting having read you discussion here on them

Went out today to help my mate who I am training with to get my spray license for lawns and ornamentals and boy was is wet on them lawn.....and because of the wet...HUMID!!!!!!!!
