This is one of the most weird that I have experienced, However, in 2004 one of the three, Charlie, Frances, or Jean, stalled off coast at Daytona and pounded us for four straight days. Wind is whipping up here and the rain is blowing sideways.

Yep I was here for 2004.....been here 8 years and blimey this is crazy for a Tropical. Charley was a major hurricane and moved fast across us. Heck next day it was sunny and I was helping people out with tree's and clean up. Tonight is worse than last night...when the bloody heck does this end....crazy

We are getting pounded by rain. The wind is not bad; but we are getting a sample of what Melbourne and Satellite Beach got. Where we live is high and dry, no flooding dangers here. Dad built this house in the 40's when Floridians built on high ground. That was before the developers moved in and built in swamps and low lying areas and sold to Northerners moving to Florida who knew nothing about the terrain (and weren't smart enough to ask the locals).

Its still rainin' here. Lake Okeechobee is expected to rise at tleast three feet. That is real good news. As long as that rain keeps fallin from Orlando to the south, she'll catch every drop. This storm has been a slow one. I almost got cabin fever.

I just got back from the store and it is raining and windy here, still. Many of the roads in PSL are still completely flooded as are a large number of intersections. There is just nowhere for the water to go right now. This certainly has been a wierd storm. Thank goodness it did not have hurricane strength winds to contend with.

It has deluged all night here and right now our winds are between 30-40 mph (38-64 kph) with higher gusts. The rain is still coming down. Not a riding day today. That thing stalled all night just off Daytona Beach. St Johns (St Augustine) and Flagler Counties are getting the worst of it. St Augustine sits at sea level and on the bay. With tides running above normal, there is no place for the water to go. I hope Fay will begin to move today and get on out of here. She is predicted to move westward across the panhandle where, like everywhere else in the state, they need the rain. This storm will have affected every county in Florida, from Key West to Pensacola, by the time she is gone. That has never happened before.

She aint going nowhere....just sitting there....we are getting drenched here big time. Well guess I wont be going out cutting tomorrow either.....this sucks when it loses ya money. Still, then again, I shouldn't moan when there are people with water in there homes and damage due to this thing. Everybody down here doing alright? Carl mate....need any help over there mate?

Stay safe

AJ, those critters swim to the surface and cling to any floating object and to each other. he queen comes with them. They just hang on until they reach high ground and relocate. A little gasoline does wonders, though.

Thanks, Steve; eveything is looking good here so far. I have kept up with the debris and the city has hauled most of it away already. If you an extra pair of worn out hands down your way, give me a shout.

So, what you are saying is that we could learn a lot from fire ants?

Only....without a steady job, the ants couldn't afford to buy the gasoline, especially with prices as high as they are.

Un Bloody Real....got water coming through the wall....in a bedroom and above the kitchen window. The bedroom had a problem with the hurricanes and its coming again. We can't find where the problem is so we gotta get leak finders out and see if they can find it.....wow it don't rain then it poars...parden the pun.

Sorry to hear about the water coming in. The 100 year old cabin did that if we had driving rains from the East. It came in along the living room windows. When have been hit hard here this afternoon and evening. Winds gusting to 50 mph and tons of rain blowing sideways. I will be glad when she is gone. By the radar, our rains are about to let up. Hang in there.

I have a few more minutes of computer time here at the library so I thought I would log in here.

Our power went off arond 22:30 last night. A tree fell and took out the power lines. About 54 of us are on this outage. altogether, 150,00 cusomers have no power.

We are still getting plenty of rain; but the wind has let up. We have had over 10 inches so far and it is still coming down. I don't have my conversion tables here so I can't convert to centimeters for you. Cocoa, near Cape Canaveral, has had over 30 inches of rain and Melbourne has has 28 inches.

Looks like we will not see the sun until Sunday. I have not seen the tropical forecast yet; but I do know Fay is moving west and due to cross into the Gulf of Mexico around 20:00 this evening.

We have had no damage other than no electricity.

I'll convert it for you, Carl. When you wade into a creek in early Spring, water getting deeper, over your knees, its the point where you gasp.
Fay steadily raining on us today, probably non-stop through tonight and maybe tomorrow. Hoping the eye passes over, been in many hurricanes, never been in the eye. Starting to get a little blustery now.

Power was restored about 14:00. It has been raining all day off and on - mostly on. Winds have diminished to just breezy. It is flooding all over Central Florida. There is a small lake just down the hill from us (a hill in Florida is defines as anyplace water does not stand when it rains). It is now a big lake. Sandbags placed by the city are all that is keeping the lake out of the houses around it. Lots of homes have water in them all over Central Florida.

Fay has finally move across the peninsula and is now hitting the panhandle. All of the peninsula is still getting hit by the feeder bands. Fay is the wetest storm on record. That is because she is so sloooooow moving.

Lon, looks like the eye is gong to hug the coast south of you. You are going to see plenty of the wet stuff and some pretty stiff breezes. Stay safe and stay dry. touch base and let us know your are OK.

Steve, we are fine. There was enough breaks in the rain that I got the whole yard picked up. I got about three pickup (fullsize pickup) loads of debris. How about you, do you need any help
