Morning, just changed the plugs and filter on my 03 955i tiger, put back together with tank loose and battery on the floor connected to bike with jump leads, bike starts first time but each time i rev it up the management light and fuel together come on and off when decelerate, all the connectors are correctly fastened, could this be the triangular rubber under the air filter replaced the wrong way round?
Thanks in advance,
Mark.SAD

Hiya

Not familiar with that particular model but would first secure the battery terminals, might be related to vibration.

Also check that the air box sensor is connected nicely. The decel might be triggering a false reading via the air box pressure sensor.

If you even turned just the ignition on, without starting the bike, and some of the sensors weren't connected, it would trigger the engine management light for X amount of heat cycles.
For some models it might be 3 heat cycles, the new tiger is something like 15 though. (been there, done that) lol

its quit common on tigers (900i 955i ) its after having the battery disconected , mine does it ! just ride it round for a few days they should go out .
if not it could be the sender unit in the tank.

Thank you for the feedback,
there are no fault codes at all on OBD11 or Tune ECU, the bike starts as it should and will idle all day until i twist the throttle, in Sync the fuel and engine management lights come on together and if it doesn't stall, they will go off at idle.... all good fun,

Right then an Update...
after a lot of head scratching on the weekend tried Tune Ecu and found no faults!!! this has led me to believe if not electrical then mechanical? striped down the tank and found the idle air control valve Grommet had a few splits in it and also the grommet itself was very soft, surely this has to be the problem reference Vacuum??? i have purchased another grommet for £2.20 and will report back one i have the chance to fit it.
if it corrects the problem then i am only down £2 compared to taking her to the garage :y2: Happy days...

Anytime the battery is disconnected you will have to go thru a heat cycle or two before the engine light goes off. Ususally it's just a matter of riding for 30 minutes to an hour and shutting the bike down. The next time you start the bike the light should go off. I've never had the fuel light on with the engine light but it sounds like you might have found a possible cause for the fuel light.

The engine light only comes on when i rev the bike, doesn't stay on, when i let go of the throttle engine and fuel light go off together and come on together when i revv it up so has to be the grommet, i have obd11 cables and reset fault code hand helds so dont have to go through the cycle,
Thanks,
Mark.

Not had or heard of this problem in all my 10 years of Tiger955i ownership. The only possible reason I can think is that the battery is discharged. A flat or nearly flat battery does all sorts of strange things with these bikes.

Right then an update, striped down the girl again tonight, getting real good at this ;-) took the IACV apart and found that the plunger had unscrewed by half some how, screwed it back in and lubed with silicone spray, checked the 3 vacuum hoses for leaks and reassembled.
I then changed the female couplings on the fuel tank as they were leaking when the tank was off for Metal ones and used loctite on the threads leaving 5 threads on show, worked perfectly, put the tank on a make shift bench next to the bike and reassembled the fuel lines and fuel pump connector, primed the tank with ignition key 3 times and she fired up first time :-) i then did the 12 minute tune and then left for another 10 minutes for luck, connected my Tune ECU and monitored for faults and sensor readings, all was perfect.
Then the moment of truth, blip-ed the throttle and she purred like a kitten all the way through, such a happy chappy...
I am not sure what was at fault but i cannot wait to get back on the road tomorrow and put a few well earned miles on the girl.
God i love this bike, have had 14 bikes and this one by far is the best and definitely a Keeper!!!!

realy chuffed for ya mark glad you got it sorted TUP , im the same ive owned upwards of 100 bikes over the years and allways sold them on !
but i can honestly say my tiger will die wth me.

Thanks Shane,
Most likely culprit was the Fuel couplings went bad on 1st dismantle as the IACV was not touched... oh, Morning from a cold and wet LLanfairfechan :y6:

Mark, glad she is back on the road. Thanks for posting up your findings.

And I too couldn't agree with you more, 28 different bikes owned here over the years, and this one is the only one I can NEVER get rid of. Interesting how most all Tiger riders mimmic this sentiment. :y15:

Yeah, well, I've had the old girl (955) for 10 years & 67000 miles now and she's served me very well. BUT, the 800 is so much easier to ride and handle. It also does more of what I want a bike to do that I'd keep the 800 over the 955 should the need occur.

Mark, glad you are back on the road and the problem is solved.

BT, I understand what you are saying. As much as I love my Bonnies, I gave mine to my grandson and kept the my late wife's with sidecar. I would definitely give it up before I'd part with my 800XC.
