Dear Triumphtalk Members,
I am a US Navy Veteran(81-85). Short story, is my father (US Navy Seal/RIP) purchased my 78' Triumph in 1979 for H.S. Graduation. I bought it from my best friend who wanted to upgrade to a Suzuki 1100 and I made a pact to never sell my bike to a stranger without first right of refusal. I have carried this bike on my back across the USA for 41 years. I haven't ridden this bike since 1987. I drained all the oil and gas before dry storage. Its been in my basement since 1987.
It's in very good condition with an immaculate teardrop tank(crimson red/black) I purchased in 1985 and an assortment of custom parts & seat, 2-1 header pipe. All my chrome is pristine and just needs a buff and hard elbow grease. I've decided to restore the bike myself as a summer project and I will probably require some helpful hints and advice for this daunting task. Especially, how to calm a very angry wife who is not a team player in this venture. LOL
My best friend died of a cocaine overdose in 2005 and it's time to s**t or get off the pot... I have decided its time to kickstart this limey racer once again! One memory I have is riding in the cool summer nights and the way the engine just whispered down the road. I want to hear that sound again...
Ride safe,
B
