On second thought, before you go tearing it down, re-prime everything then get the bike out and ride it gently around the block, NOT lugging it in higher gears; stay in 1st and 2nd.

THEN have a look at the oil return.

Of course, if you hear any loud rattling or knocking, turn it off immediately.
 
Hi Marc - I read this thread with great interest, as it almost exactly describes what's just happened to my 79 T140E - Bike running fine for several years, then immediately after an oil change / new filter / crankcase draindown (first time !!!) it returns only the priming oil then just air with the low pressure warning light on.
Did you ever get to the bottom of this ?
I'm now at the flying spanner stage, having spent all day priming, OPRV stripping, trying it again etc and, finally oil pump removal / strip with nothing found which would explain the problem.
